Wouldn’t it take longer to fill out the slip than it would to actually deliver it? Lol
I forgot to mention that sometimes, they mark the package as delivered but then I don’t get it for a day or two. This frequently used to happen with amazon prime packages.
Yes, and we have a camera. There were diamond earrings in the box, and unfortunately the visible return address was a jewelry shop.
DH called to complain. The next day the driver knocked on our door and said "I found the package in your bushes".
Nope.
ETA: Sorry, this was either UPS or Fedex, not USPS. Our mailman is AMAZING. He often drives around early in the AM and delivers bulky packages first, and then does letters. I love him.
Last week I had issues with two USPS deliveries. Both marked as delivered, one came the next afternoon, one two days later. Not by random people, but by USPS, so it's not like they were dropped off at the wrong address or something. So frustrating.
I was supposed to get something from Amazon on Saturday. I got a notification that it was delivered on Saturday. Amazon website said it was delivered on Saturday. I got it on Sunday.
Family members have paid for guaranteed next day delivery by noon (something like $50). And I have stood down in my lobby AT 12 NOON AND WAITED FOR THEM. By that evening they said that they attempted delivery and no one answered. Absolute bullshit. Even when I told them I had video showing no notice, no package with a timestamp at noon.. they didn't give a shit and refused to refund the guaranteed delivery fee.
Oh wow it seems this is a common occurrence then!! I supppse I should consider myself lucky this is the first time it’s happened to me 😄
I would complain to amazon but they don’t appear to offer that option haha .. it just says “contact usps here” and then it’s like you call this number and do the robot call that takes 20 min or you go to the website and it’s not easy to complain on there either lol. Very strategic ...
Well thanks for the stories anyway! At least I know I’m not alone 😀
What I did, and you might be able to as well, is contact Amazon and tell them you have problems with USPS and prefer all packages go thru UPS or FedEx.

You can call your exact post office or the main post office near you directly. That’s normally quicker and more satisfying. If you google it, the direct numbers come up.
I complained online once and they said my mail wasn’t delivered because of extreme weather and it was a 70° sunny day. Calling puts them on the spot so they can’t pull that nonsense.

This literally just happened to me. Apparently, my driver "didn't want to leave the package unattended" - which, WTF, I get three or four packages a day left on my suburban doorstep and this is literally a $20 stuffed giraffe. Not pleased. Our distribution center is WAY the F far away.
yep. I SAH, and am home a TON. H will text me like "ugh, looks like we missed a package delivery, figures they deliver it when you're in the shower/whatever." And i'm like....I wasn't in the shower. I was literally working in the kitchen. No ring on the doorbell, they just don't deliver it.
Have also had the problem with UPS not picking up a package, and then marking it as a missed pick-up. I ordered some furniture for E's room, opened the box, and it was the wrong color. So I do the return process via Amazon, and arrange for them to pick it up. You get 3 attempts for UPS to pick it up before they cancel the return shipping label, but apparently don't tell this to Amazon. So I kept getting stickers on my window that I missed my scheduled pick-up, and I'm like WTF, I was here the whole time. The 3rd time I call amazon to let them know it was never picked up, and they re-issue another return label. SAME SHIT STARTS TO HAPPEN. Meanwhile UPS is DELIVERING packages to my house, just not ringing the bell to pick up what they're supposed to.
I "miss" TWO MORE PICK-UPS, and finally call UPS directly to ask why the fuck they won't ring the bell, and, you know, pick up the package that is scheduled. The guy tells me they just don't have room on the trucks this time of year, so drivers just mark as a missed pick-up to get it off their list. And this wasn't said apologetically, more of "yeah, this is what we do this time of year. Sucks, right?"
There was a big thing about this locally last year (link below). Basically if they 'attempt delivery' it resets the clock with Amazon vs. being a late delivery. Too many late deliveries impacts their contract...so if they 'attempt delivery' it's not considered late. Or something.
Just happened this morning. I got a text that an item was delivered at 6:23am. Go out to the porch and no package. Come home an hour later and pass a USPS delivery truck. And, lo and behold it is on the porch. With all the package thefts, it is annoying when they lie about it.
Talking to your delivery person can help. I recently had a package marked as delivered, but it was not in the box that it should have been. My mail person happened to be delivering mail and opened all the boxes and found it for me. We have mailbox banks here.
FedEx literally stole the item out of a box before they delivered it to me one time. Of course, one time does not make it a constant problem, but throwing an empty box on my porch (I was sitting on the other side of the curtains) does not inspire confidence. I had ordered 2 cell phones...the driver only stole one of them. I have never had a delivery from a UPS truck, so I do not know if they would be on time or not.
Well, I just today had a package "delivered" that is not here. I wonder what's up with that. I hope it's just in a neighbor's mailbox. It says it was delivered at 6:08am this morning, which seems a bit fishy. There were a couple of other packages in the mail area of my building that look like they were delivered today, but it's possible they are from earlier this week. I had nothing in my actual mailbox so I don't even know if the mail has technically been delivered yet today?
I'll give it a couple of days and follow up. That's literally never happened to me before, so I think this thread jinxed me lol.

Was this amazon by any chance? The same exact thing happened to me last night, after the package was already 2 days late. I was literally home all day and they also leave a package at my door almost daily. I called amazon seething and the woman told me that’s their default message when they can’t find the package. Turns out mine was lost (and had been since Tuesday). Not sure if it’s the same thing as yours but just though I’d share.

This just happened to us with Amazon, we told them about it and they gave a $10 credit. So worth complaining if it happens!

We just got that message for an Amazon global package that is going to our daughter in Japan. She was home all day, so if they actually had it, they could have delivered it to her. I guess the issue is global.
All she wanted for Christmas was OB tampons, so we sent something like 10 boxes, but it cost a large fortune to mail them. DH decided to send some by Amazon Global to see how well it will work, since prime means free shipping. The mailed one got there fastest.... the other was hung up in customs, and then who knows where it is now.

According to tracking I had a package delivered yesterday. It’s nowhere to be found.
I asked if any neighbors had it on the weekly mail thread and nothing. The fact that we have a thread on the FB page trying to find missing mail says a lot.

Wait, did you actually watch him steal it? Did you confront him or let him walk away with your phone?

He did not come onto my porch at all, he threw the empty box on the porch. I certainly did not get a good enough view of this person to report him either. I did not confront him because that is a good way to be attacked and things can be replaced. Later a second box was delivered that was ordered at the same time. It was quite a headache because the serial numbers got mixed up and so the one I had was the one that was frozen because it was the one that the customer service agent reported as stolen was the one that I did have in hand.
