I need to be excited for just a minute. I got into the Chicago marathon! Aaaahhhhhh! Is it too early to be excited for my fall 2019 A race?
I’m excited and anxious/nervous. Which is weird since I’ve actually run the Chicago marathon before. I really didn’t think it would happen. Eek! Now to start thinking/planning my travel!
Yay, congrats lilypad1126 and brooke77! I'm hoping 2020 will be my Chicago redemption year.
As for hotels, I stayed at the Radisson Blu Aqua and would recommend it. It was a great location, relatively inexpensive, and the lobby served free bagels and bananas the morning of to all runners. And they had great bathrooms to puke in while all your training hopes and dreams literally go down the toilet lol sob.
b/c I’m ridiculous, I already booked a room at the Palmer House. I dont’ know if I’ll keep it, or if I’ll stay with a friend about 5 miles north of Grant Park. I appreciate the convenience of the Palmer House, but the price is way high. Any of the hotels on the marathon website are good ones. I always pay the most attention to this distance from the start/finish line. I really like being close.

Congrats! I had the registration deadline on my calendar and alerts repeatedly and I still somehow forgot to register for the lottery, so I had to register as a charity runner. I registered with Team Bright Pink on Monday, and found out from my ortho on Wednesday that I might need foot surgery at the start of the year. Oops. Haven't been able to run since April.
Get excited!! Congrats again!
Also, hate that the lottery date gets earlier every year!! It used to be February! Silly competing marathons...

chitownbelle, I liked your post for everything but the foot surgery! Yikes! I hope whatever it is, you recover quickly.
And I agree with the hate for the early lottery dates. How do I know in October of 2018 if I'll be able to/want to run in October 2019? When I entered the lottery, I had to block off my calendar as though I was running for sure so nothing got scheduled for me at work. I have work obligations that schedule a year out. It can be tricky to schedule a fall marathon into my life. Ha!

OMG on top of the potential foot surgery (i had CT scan today and see the ortho later this week), my best friend planned her wedding date for Friday, Oct 11...in NORTH CAROLINA! If my foot allows me to run this race, I will barely get to drink and enjoy her wedding, and I'll have to be on the first flight out to Chicago saturday morning in order to get to the Expo and get my packet! I don't know the rules for deferring when running for charity...eesh! Terrible timing all around ;-)
chitownbelle—eek! The things we go thru for our friends And I have no idea how a charity deferral works or if you even can. I hope your appointment goes well so that you can continue to plan these difficult logistics!
