I'm getting super frustrated trying to plan a trip in May 2019! Has anyone gone to Amalfi Coast NOT on a romantic honeymoon?
This started as a group of friends wanting to do a big trip for next year when we all turn 40. We were super excited about the Amalfi Coast, but in the time since we were all together excitedly planning, it has kind of fallen apart. Some dropped out for money or family issues that have cropped up, and we just don't know where to start.
It seems like Positano has the most action, would we be bored staying in Amalfi or Ravello? I'm interested in: pool time, beach clubs, boat tours, eating and drinking, light hiking.

My family of 4 went 2 summers ago. We were 35, 35, 4 and 1. We went for 8 days and flew into Naples. When we arrived in Naples we found out from the driver I hired that our VRBO in Positano cancelled on us. He drove us an hour then left us at a bus stop while the property manager tried to secure us another house. We wound up staying on the outskirts of Sorrento without a car. Thankfully there were a few places we could walk to for dinners and a small deli to pick up food for breakfast and lunch. The house was beautiful. We never left except to go to dinner. It had a view of the bay that Positano is on. We then moved to another house in downtown Sorrento. It was beautiful as well, on a lemon grove. We could walk to town very easily. This one was a great walking location. The first one definitely needed a car. We made sure both houses we rented had a pool and they did and were great. We went on a boat tour up the Amalfi coast and We didn't plan the boat tour. It was provided by the property manager as an I'm sorry. We went to the beach once and it was expensive. It was around 25 Euro for one person for the day. The beaches are rocky and hurt unless you have water shoes. We mainly chose this area for the eating and drinking and it did not disappoint. I would do another next summer if we weren't already booked.

I went to a wedding with some friends a while ago. We are not big partiers, but had a wonderful time. We stayed in Sorrento in a hotel called Il Nido. It is kind of up on the hill but they had a van that would drive you into town and drop you off there or at the train station. From Sorrento we did a boat trip to Capri, a train ride to Pompeii and to Naples, and we took the bus down the coast to Positano and other towns. My friend who got married was from Naples and her parents have a vacation home in Paestum which is also a really cool town. It has Greek temple ruins and we went to the beach a lot.
