I'm indecisive. My second beta came back at 3,553 so they don't even want me to come back for a 3rd. They told me to make my first ultrasound for 12/24, but I'll be away so I asked if I could do it 12/21 and they agreed, but I'll only be 6w1d so there's a chance we won't be able to see a heartbeat.
Would this stop you from going on 12/21? I can't decide if that will stress me out more, but it would be great to see a heartbeat before we travel for Christmas.

I think if you go in with the expectation that it is very likely too early to see a heartbeat (even though you really may see one), it may lead to less disappointment if it's not quite there yet. You know yourself and if you would feel better seeing something vs not seeing a heartbeat and being worried something is wrong when the reality is it was just too early. Can you do 12/26? Or how long are you out of town?

We could do 12/26 if they have afternoon appointments. The scheduling person is supposed to call me back.
My first ultrasound with L was at 5w6d. We didn't see a heartbeat, but saw that everything that should've been there was there (sac, fetal pole). We saw a heartbeat the next week.
If it were me I'd still go with the hope of seeing a heartbeat (because it is possible), but knowing that it may not be detectable yet. But you know yourself best, and if it's going to cause more anxiety, then wait.

It wouldn’t stop me. First, they can check to see if the embryo is where it’s supposed to be (although is this not a thing with IVF? I’ve only had IUI), and there is a good chance you will see a hb.
Thanks all! Glad to hear I'm not insane for thinking of getting it at 6w1d. I made the appointment for the 21st. Hopefully we see the heartbeat and all of my worry was for nothing. If not, hopefully they will let me repeat the next week!
This is so random (and I am sorry to threadjack!) but I was curious about how far along I was for my first ultrasound--we were somewhere in the 7 week range, but when looking at the date, it was exactly 2 years ago today that I saw my son for the first time in his little ultrasound! Just a flickering little heartbeat and a blob

Man! Time flies! It's crazy to think my first ultrasound with DS was almost 3 years ago. Almost 3 years since the tech was pointing out the hearbeat and I was pretending that I also saw it. LOL

I thought of this at pretty much every ultrasound. LOL
Just echoing that I'd also go at 6w1d. I had one basically every week after my BFP, first we confirmed it was in my ute, then we saw the sac/pole, then a HB and they let me come back one last time at my last appointment/graduation to OB.

I had my first u/s with both boys at 6w exactly and saw the heart beat both times. I would totally go the 21st (besides, it’s DS1’s bday so it’s a great day!)! Good luck! So excited for you!
