I finished The Great Alone and was pleased to see that it didn’t turn into a Room/Shining scenario like I anticipated from the description. I don’t know if that says more about my state of mind or lazy book summaries.
QOTD: is it beginning to feel a lot like Christmas? We haven’t had any snow this winter and it supposed to be 60 tomorrow! So no, not Christmasy here.
I'm reading Beartown, which is 1) about hockey and 2) by the same author as A Man Called Ove, so I'm digging it.
QOTW: It's almost 50 and raining here, but I'll be visiting my parents next week who live in one of the coldest freaking places in the US, and the possibility of a white Christmas is very likely.
Finished: Tailspin by Sandra Brown - 2.5*, I'm definitely over her "formula" The Memory of You by Jamie Beck - 3*, I found this author via Kindle Prime and have liked the 2 series I read by her. This one just didn't hit the mark. I had a really hard time with the time lapse which didn't help given the subject matter. Maid for Love - This one was a freebie and was just OK. I'm actually more interested in book 2 and it looks like the library has it.
QOTW: We didn't have snow, but surrounding areas did. It always fluctuates before Christmas here. Thursday is expected to be 62.
Over the weekend, I finished "Fear" by Bob Woodward. It was ok. I am somewhat glad I read it, but I felt like it ended really abruptly (my Kindle still said it had almost 40% left, but that was all notes and pictures and acknowledgements). I guess that's because we are still in the middle of the presidency, but I kind of wish Bob Woodward had waited until after he's out of office to write the book. The story is far from finished and literally (to me) just seemed like he stopped writing to get a book published, not because it was a natural place to stop the story.
I also just finished the audiobook of "Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the universe". It was narrated by Lin Manuel Miranda, which was great. I enjoyed the book quite a bit.
I'm now reading Issa Rae's book. So far it's ok. I like her a lot (and LOVE Insecure) but the book isn't really sucking me in yet. It's a quick read though so I'll probably finish it in a day or two regardless!

I'm reading Whistler by John Grisham. MIL liked it and passed it along, but I'm struggling. I think it's really slow.
I'm in NC, so whether or not it's Christmas-like is not decided by the weather. LOL. My Christmas tradition is to walk the dogs in a T-shirt. So I say YES! The tree is up, wrapping is 90% done. Baking is mostly done. And the kids have Christmas related things going on every day at school
