Weekend was good. Friday night my friend organized a Christmas night out. I went out for a bit and had a few drinks. It was fun.
Saturday I made 4 dozen cookies for a cookie exchange and then we went out to dinner with friends of P. We ended up watching a movie when we got home.
Sunday I went to said cookie exchange, which was fun. Although I was scratching my head a bit as it was at a restaurant. Some woman I don't know showed up 90 minutes late with just a breezy "sorry I'm late" statement. We literally completed the exchange and finished eating by that point. I felt bad but there was no way I was unpacking all of my cookies at that point, especially given she picked up a menu and ordered food, when we were all ready for our checks. She ended up bringing most of her own cookies home. Lol.
My weekend was really good! Friday night DS had his first improv show and it was really funny! BF brought his kids and they all thought it was funny too. It's so crazy to see my kid on stage doing all this wacky stuff and making it look so easy! And he totally made me cry before the show. He asked to wear the bracelet DD got me because "I want to have a piece of DD with me because she's one of my biggest supporters."
Saturday I had this insanely amazing reiki session. I don't know how much you buy into it, but she was seriously able to focus on where I'm feeling blocked and was able to vocalize the energy she felt and it was dead on. I felt the shift during the session. Then we had our annual Elf party and it was so much fun! I don't think anyone actually watched the movie, but there was snuggling, piles of kids, so much food and lots of laughing. I watched BF's kids after the party since he had to ref and it was nice to hang out with them and DS at home.
Yesterday, BF's youngest had her church Christmas program so I went to that with his family. I met her mom, which was only a little awkward lol! She knew I was going to be there and I made sure BF made sure she was okay with me being there. Then DS and I went out to lunch with BF, his kids and his parents. I had a stupid headache most of the day, so I spent the rest of the day on the couch watching Fuller House.
Random...this is my last Monday to work this year!! Bring on the long weekends!!
Hi! We were away for our anniversary this weekend. It was unseasonably warm, so our ski trip was a little funny - manmade snow on the slopes, green/mud everywhere else, and rain coming down on us for 2 days. Buuut - they had just opened up our favorite runs and the lousy weather meant we had nearly the whole place to ourselves, with zero wait time at any of the lifts. We usually stay off that resort's diamonds, because it's full of kids who should NOT be on that hill, but for once it was just us, able to cruise down at our own pace and not be worried about collisions from asshole kids who think "tuck and bomb" is an acceptable way to come down the slope. We ate a bunch, napped a bunch, and skied when we felt like it - it was a great time!
Anyone want to help my christmas menu? Here's what I'm making so far. There will only be 6 of us, so I'm trying to balance my desire to have MOAR FOOD with knowing I usually make far too much.
- Ham. It's Costco sized, so it's already too much, LOL - Rolls - because M's family likes to fill themselves with mediocre bread instead of having 3 helpings of dinner like I do - Green bean casserole, since MIL's thanksgiving catering was lacking this - Butternut squash gratin (too much cheesy stuff already, perhaps? I feel like there's no such things as too many creamy dishes, but maybe some people do) - Artichoke smashed potatoes
I feel like I need more greenery in here. Maybe a salad with either cranberries or pomegranate seeds? Some roasted brussels? I'm resisting the urge to add mac & cheese to the menu, because again - I've already got cheesy casseroles on the brain.
And I'll make too many pies for dessert, and my MIL is bringing too many cookies. Clearly we're going to starve.

chalupa, I love cheese as much as the next person, but I'd definitely add in some green. Either a salad or brussel sprouts. I have a great roasted BS recipe with bacon, shallots and a mustard vinaigrette. I'll try and dig it out, if you like.
So glad that you all had good weekends! chalupa your ski photos still looked gorgeous.
I had two choir concerts this weekend, a date that went amazingly well, and have some crazy garlic chicken in the crock pot for tonight's dinner. Mmm. Also roasting some asparagus with parmesan on top.
I have not done any christmas shopping. So today or tomorrow, cue my wallet buying all the things at target.

Yummm.
I'd echo bullys, add something with some acid/vinegar components to cut the creamy stuff a bit. It sounds fucking delicious.

chalupa, here is the recipe if you want it. I do really like it because you can make it up ahead of time. I'm a big advocate of not slaving away in the kitchen while you are trying to visit.
My weekend was good. Saturday I took my friend to his first hockey game ever. There were some good fights, the game was tied, went into overtime, then to a shootout, and the home team won! So he had a really exciting first game. It was a lot of fun. I think he tried to float a couple of test balloons with me, but I didn't react one way or another.
Yesterday I ended up skipping book club so I could do laundry, make the bed, put everything away, and have dinner. It ended up being a really good call, I think.

For thanksgiving I bought a brussel sprout slaw at Whole foods. It had brussels, nuts and cranberries and the vinegar cut through the heaviness of the rest of my food which was similar to what you are doing. It was also cold so it was nice to just take it out of the fridge.

I was thinking about roasted Brussels with a balsamic glaze, but this is an even better idea. I can get Whole Foods delivered for free via Amazon, so I shouldn’t even need to set foot in their store this weekend.
weekend was so-so. I had plans to get a lot of cleaning done as next week is the holiday and my younger sister is coming home for a week. Saturday afternoon was pretty productive but Sunday was a bust. I just kept getting distracted by other things. It is not helping that I am off all ADD meds until the middle of January.
