I am going to Rome in February. I know it will be pretty chilly. My go-to travel shoes are Dansko Mary Janes (they aren't work shoes, kind of like an athleisure type of walking shoe). These will not work for Rome since those are the kind of shoes you wear socklets with instead of actual socks.
Any suggestions? I would prefer to not wear boots.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
My go-to is a pair of shooties (I hate that term, but it's probably the most accurate). They're high enough that I can wear them with full socks when I'm wearing pants, but they're low enough that they look more like a slip-on shoe when I'm wearing them with a dress and tights. ETA - Kind of like these, but with a lower heel (which makes it easier to walk around in all day).
I also have a pair of waterproof leather ankle boots that are great for rainy wet weather, but I'm not really a boots-with-dress girl, so I usually only wear them with jeans/slacks.

I would do a lightweight hiking or sneaker type shoe that is waterproof. The Dansko Paisley is a good one - but there are many. Not easy to dress up, so you might want a second pair, but this kind is great for walking all day in a variety of weather.
