Hi all, I'm heading to Prague and have a 9 hr layover in Frankfurt. My H and I plan to store our stuff in the airport and head to the city center to experience the Christmas market that is there. I learned yesterday it's the largest in Germany. Also if anyone has any tips on doing a longer layover. We've never had 9 hours to kill. Usually we fly direct or only have enough time to grab a quick bite and reboard.
Anyone have any advice on any quick must sees while in that area?
I have no advice, but I'd love to hear about this when you get back!
I fly through Frankfurt a lot (12 times this year, and another coming up this weekend), but since we have several daily connections to Oslo, I've never had more than 5 or 6 hours to kill. I'm sure I'll get stuck there at some point, though!
I don't have any Frankfort advice, but as far as long layovers, we recently had one in Hong Kong. We had 8 hours, but that really didn't give us that much time. By the time we did everything at the airport and took the train into the city, there wasn't time to do that much. So my recommendation is not to over plan what you are going to do. A visit to the Christmas market sounds perfect.
I'm not sure if your next flight is long and/or if you will have lounge access, but I was able to take a shower in the lounge before we got on our next flight. Given we had some really long travel times plus the time in Hong Kong, it was nice to feel clean when we got on our next flight.

We don't plan to do much we just don't want to spend 9 hours at the airport. You are right about taking a shower. They have a few places to take one in the airport for a few euros. I will need a shower to feel like a human and to wake up.
Adding to @wise_rita, the market closes on December 22 (Saturday). Will you be there before then?
Thank you for making me look this up. It looks like I miss it by a day. Bummer.
Aw! I’m sorry. It’ll still be pretty for Christmas. I did a 10 hour layover in Amsterdam last November because we wanted to see the city before deciding to move here. It flew by. We took the train to the city, had breakfast, and did a free walking tour. The walking tour was 3 hours I think. Then we had lunch and went to the Anne Frank house. By the time we knew it, it was time to head back to the airport. I haven’t done Frankfurt as yet but perhaps pick 1-2 things to do and find a free walking tour. I do it in every city I go to and it’s sooo fun.
