Wins: I got to see soooo many important people over the long weekend. I went to two different holiday parties, three different church services, saw a movie and had a game night. R and DD played Cards Against Humanity together and while they didn't talk to each other directly, they were interacting, so I call that a win. DD got a dog and she's the sweetest! My friend with cancer came over the other night and the dog spent the whole night laying on her feet, like she knew what was going on.
Whines: I'm back at work...and I'm tired and not really in the mood for this nonsense. R and I got into a fight on Sunday night, which sort of colored Christmas Eve a bit. We've worked it out, but it was no good for a minute. I had a client overdose in what appears to be a suicide attempt over the weekend.
Presents: DD got me a Jeffrey Dahmer coffee mug, which is freaking hilarious and R knows I love Bumblebee so he and his kids got me a Bumblebee blanket. Nothing weird this year!
Whines: My H has a man cold...I really should just call it a cold because he really is sick. But he called in sick from work over it, and he's talking about taking the rest of his sick days this week. Damn it! It seems like every time I get some time off work and think I'm going to get some time to myself to just watch my own TV and do my own thing he does something like this. *kicks rocks*
Presents: So.much.tea. from my SIL and an electric kettle to brew it in! And a beautiful Patagonia pullover from my H (as well as an OralB toothbrush...lol).

Wins: I'm off until January 2nd! Christmas Day brunch with my mom, P's parents and my sister went really well. And we had fun at my sister's house for Christmas Day dinner. P loved his presents, especially his new fancy BBQ temperature control system.
Whines: I got nothing...
Presents: Holy smokes. P spoiled the heck out of me this year. He got me some Athleta and Lululemon workout gear, a bunch of All Clad and Le Creuset cookware, the pasta maker attachments for my KA mixer and a Coach watch I had admired. He was so excited for me to open everything and it was really cute.
Wins: The lasagna turned out delicious! Also, although I had an emotional meltdown for no good identifiable reason on Christmas Eve, a friend/guy I once dated was really supportive and helpful. All the food this Christmas turned out delicious, both what I made and what my mom made. I'm on break until January 7th!!!
Whines: See the above-mentioned engineer meltdown. Still not entirely sure what it was about, but it seems to have passed. I think there's some work burnout, loneliness, and feeling of everyone expecting me to take on they're emotional burdens without checking in about mine. I'm so glad I'm on break.
Presents: I got basically everything I asked for, which was very sweet of my parents. I got a Roku, a new pair of Vionic slippers, and a massage gift certificate, plus a fun/cute book and some candy. My favorite was watching my dad open the NBA tickets my mom and I got him. It was only a certificate I created from the email confirmation, but still he was so excited. So that's another big win!
Wins: My younger sister and her husband arrived late Saturday night. Since then it has been a whirlwind of activities. I am tired but in a good way.
Whines: I had to work this AM for a few hours and while it wasn't so bad to sot in my office in solitude, it still sucked having to get up at 5:30AM.
Presents: Santa was extra good to me. A new laptop that I never even asked for, some perfume, an immersion blender, new sheets, a very nice sized gift card to my favorite Sushi place, some new Nike's and some new workout wear.
A little funny to share. The adult kids all draw names and my brother, the comedian, got my name. He gave me a bag of charcoal with a huge sign that sad Naughty or Nice and had naughty circled. I was like WTF. I mean it was funny but had me perplexed. Then about 15 minutes later he gave me my real gift. He got me good.
Double whine: H went to the dr and found out he has the flu...and now I'm getting sick too. It's not just body aches for me, though. It's nerve pain. It feels like shingles all over again **whine**

oh, I hope it isn't shingles
I really hope I don't get another shingles outbreak from this. It seems like anything that causes inflammation in my body sparks the shingles nerve pain. It's just all kinds of suck.

Isnt there a shingles vaccine now?
There is! And I highly recommend getting it if you have had chicken pox and have not already had shingles.
In my case, I've had shingles, so the vaccine wouldn't do me any good. But for the rest of you - save yourselves!!
