Squirmy falls asleep well in the swing but once she's asleep we move her gently to the bouncer. She gets pissed if she wakes up in the swing, dunno why.
My son napped and slept in the swing for about 8 months. He did not like to sleep (to say the least) and could not be moved if he did fall asleep. What did it say about 30 min? I thought that was so people didn't stick them in a swing or bouncy seat all day long.
30mins?? Ohhelllsno. I had both my kids in their swing for hours. That's pretty much where they napped most of the day. And you know how much babies sleep......
But in its new recommendations to combat sudden infant death syndrome, or SIDS, the American Academy of Pediatrics says sleeping too long in a sitting position may make it hard for a baby to get enough oxygen.
I guess it's an AAP recommendation. I seriously thought you could just let your baby sleep in a swing all night. It seemed to be what they did in the nursery as the hospital but I wasn't really paying that much attention.
We had the Little Lamb swing and it wasn't upright at all. It was really the same position as the newborn napper on the pack n play that he was supposed to be sleeping in. lol

Don't listen to Dr Google.
Amen! My son lived in his swing. Our pedi was fine with it. Major disclaimer - my son came home on an apnea monitor so if he stopped breathing the alarm woke the whole house. But yeah, even after that was gone - if he fell asleep in there - we did not move him. My one rule with babies is never disturb a happy (sleeping) baby.

I'm not sure what kind of swing you have but most newborn swings on the market these days are adjustable and are mostly in the laydown/reclined position. I think you are totally fine letting your baby sleep in the swing during naptimes. Again, both our kids slept HOURS in theirs. Sometimes 6-8 hours at night.
DS slept in his for naps once in a while for a few hours at a time. Once she gets older ( like 4 plus months) stop the motion of the swing once she is well asleep. You don't want her dependent on motion to sleep. Right now she is too small to really form too many negative associations.
