I got the Outsider for Christmas and have already read half of it. I didn't realize it was part of the Bill Hodges books until Holly appeared in the middle. I've read Mr. Mercedes so I'm somewhat familiar with Holly, but I haven't read the other 2 books in the trilogy.
I'm thinking I've already spoiled a good bit of End of Watch for myself, but I'm not sure if there are more spoilers to come or not. I'm currently at the chapter where Holly is preparing to head for the airport to fly to Flint City to meet up with the other characters in the Outsider.
So what do you think? Do I continue to read the Outsider, since it's really good and I've already spoiled the main parts of End of Watch at this point? Or are there more spoilers to come? For the record, I don't know what's on the DVD she brought with her yet and I have a feeling that ties in with the other books. I have Finders Keepers / End of Watch on hold at the library so it'll be awhile before I get my hands on them.
I haven't read The Outsider yet so I came speak to what spoilers remain, but if I were you I'd probably keep reading simply because I wouldn't want to put a good book down to wait a couple months to read others.
I really enjoyed the Bill Hodges books but as much for the characters as for the mystery.
So I read The Outsider, but not the Bill Hodges trilogy. So I am not sure what in the BH trilogy, if anything, was spoiled which is completely unhelpful. Holly's backstory wasn't very extensive but it does get briefly mentioned at points.

I also didn't realize it was connected to those books when I read the Outsider, and I was annoyed. I do think there might still be more spoilers if you finish The Outsider now, but I think you probably already spoiled the 'main' thing about Brady Hartsfield. I didn't love the Mr. Mercedes trilogy so I wouldn't have cared about it being spoiled. But if you are looking forward to reading the other 2 books, you might want to stop now.
