I just had a phone screening and an online personality assessment for a job. They've scheduled me for a phone interview on Friday with the hiring manager, and then if that goes OK, they'll bring me in for an onsite interview. I need to get out of my current role SO badly (oh yeah - current company announced yesterday that our work from home arrangements are cancelled. Our bonuses are also expected to be half of the usual amount, and layoffs are rumored to start on Monday. WTF), and this potential job is all the things I liked best about the role I had before this one, AND it's in my desired salary range. I am crossing everything I've got for this.
Oh, and my uterus no longer hates me like it did on Monday, so today is a pretty fantastic day.
M is home sick with a man cold, though. If I catch his cooties before I have to go do any interviewing, I'm going to have to kill him (joking...mostly). I'm currently sipping echinacea tea and taking Zicam a few times a day to hopefully ward off his illness.

Also, I'm here, just buried with work.
In an interesting turn of events, P has recently been lobbying that we move down south. Neither one of us ever wanted to live here long term so it's not the worst idea. I told him that if we are seriously considering this, we need to really think about it and make some choices in the next 3 months because I'm not renovating this kitchen if we plan on trying to leave this state in the next 18 months.

I wouldn't embark on a pricey / long kitchen remodel if I had to move in under 3 years, LOL. I have little tolerance for dust and construction delays, though.

How far south is he suggesting?
Nor would I, but my reason is mostly due to money. We wouldn't make half of it back when we sold so I'd rather keep it and put it towards a new house.
SOUTH. He wants us to consider Houston. His brother and family live there. His brother has asked multiple times when we are moving down and on a previous visit he told P that he could easily get him a job.
P is sick of his job. I like my job but my boss just got promoted so I'm uncertain if I will like my future boss. We are both sick of the cold, dreary weather. I told him that I would consider it but we'd need to go down there a few times as he knows the area well but I don't. When we've gone for holidays we hang out a lot at his brother's house. I think we may go down in the next few months on a scouting mission.
I'm supposed to go cook dinner... I do not want to go cook dinner. I want to go to bed and sleep. Well, I would except the mattress has become unacceptable to my back. I wake up in the morning at level 9 pain. But I sleep during the night so... *shrug*
bullygirl979, thumbs down to Texas ... come to Georgia! I know we recently elected a crazy, racist governor - but it was only by the narrowest of margins.
I’m sofa king busy at work I don’t know if I can ever dig out. My boss stopped in to ask me about how bad it is and was relieved it’s not as dramatic as it sounds. I enlightened him on some of the largest time sucks and he’s going to see if there’s ways to do things differently to help. He’s also onboard with me blocking days off to work from home and not answer the phone/email.
R sent in for a passport two weeks ago so I’m itching to pull the trigger on a trip (dates and location are locked down). He kept a copy of his application but it’s just got first and last name. I’m confused why he wouldn’t list his middle name on there and freaking out about booking with the “wrong” name and him not getting on the flights or having to pay extra to change the name on the ticket.
I've been really busy at work. Getting back into the rhythm of things is an adjustment, plus I'm going to be out at a training all day on Friday, so I have to cram 5 days of work into 4. I am seeing that I definitely need to get a new job. There is ridiculous favoritism and cliquishness and it's all just getting so old.
chalupa good luck! I hope you get an interview and are able to get out of there. It's ridiculous how quickly it seems your work environment went downhill.
bullygirl979 that's a big change!! Wow! Definitely a lot for you to think about. Do you know what job prospects would look like for you in Houston?

SwimDeep, haha. Sorry! We like the thought of being close to family. Neither one of us want to move to Santa Monica (sorry, tiramisu) and P doesn't want to move to Boston. So, Houston it is!
tiramisu, I think I could easily get a job. My company has an office there, one of our competitors has a lot of remote positions (which would be my preference-work from home FTW), and because it's such a huge city there's a lot of healthcare companies there.
So I guess we're all brushing up our resumes for the new year! Good luck tiramisu and bullygirl979 (unless you're getting a nice, easy transfer to your current company's Houston office).
As of this morning I am officially under contract on my condo in Atlanta. I got over asking price is 4 days. Yipee!!
I'm also under contract on a condo right on the beach in Florida. Had the inspection Monday and everything looks good. Come mid-February I will officially be a Floridiot ;-)
bullygirl979 , that is super exciting new to hear. I agree about not putting money into a big remodel if you are moving.
kaneen - This makes me SOOOOO Happy for you. YOU GO GIRL!!!
Add me to the brushing up my resume camp. There is really nothing going on here to make me want to leave except that I am just tired of huge corporation politics and hoop jumping. I want to go back to a small, private company. That is where I feel at home.

kaneen, that's super exciting! Remind me...are you moving to FL to be closer to your family?
chalupa, thanks! We will see what happens. Today P is in camp "let's not move" while I'm firmly in camp "let's move" considering it is 9 degrees and snowing out. Ugh.

Thank you!!! It's scary but also exciting at the same time.
kaneen , that's super exciting! Remind me...are you moving to FL to be closer to your family? That and because the picture below is my backyard. I was standing on my back patio when I took that photo. But yeah, I'll also be just 10 short miles from my parents and a 2.5 hour drive from my sister.
