H and I are going to a concert in May in Indianapolis, and are considering just making a trip throughout the Midwest for a week before (the show is on a Friday, we would stay in Indy for 2 nights.) We are coming from Pittsburgh. What cities should we hit? What shouldn't we miss? We are big craft beer people, so that is always a plus if it is a place with good breweries.

Agree with Cincy. Madtree and Rhinegeist are two of the more popular craft beer companies out of the Cincinnati area. Taft's Ale House is also a cool stop in the OTR area.
Dayton has Warped Wing, Lock 27, Fifth Street Brewpub, Dayton Beer Company, and Toxic in the downtown area.

I think Chicago was just named home to the most microbreweries or something like that. Basically we have a great craft beer selection. A few of our friends own different breweries in the area. I would definitely recommend hitting Chicago and the surrounding suburbs for a day or 2.
Have you been to Chicago? If not I think that's a must see. I wouldn't bother with the suburbs (unless there is a specific brewery in the suburbs that you want to hit - I don't know of any but maybe there are some?) but there is a ton to do in the city.
If you've done Chicago maybe I'd hit a few places in Michigan. It's a beautiful state and there are many breweries, at least a couple that have wide distribution. If you go up through Michigan Bell's brewery is in Kalamazoo and I'd definitely stop there. It's cute and it's one of my favorite brewers.

We have a ton of microbreweries in the suburbs. They are spread out all over though, so it would be best to figure out if you are interested in any of them and then plan your route. (Pollyanna is a favorite of my DH, as well as Metal Monkey and Will County Brewing Company.)
If you're going through Michigan Bell's is a must. Two-hearted has been the #1 in the country the last two years.
pinkalicious What are your favorite Chicago-area breweries? I'm down from Milwaukee all the time and still learning the good ones.
I’m actually not a beer drinker, but DH and all our friends are, which means I get to be DD for them. They love Pollyanna in Lemont, Goose Island is a favorite big brewery, if you come out to the Joliet area, Metal Monkey and Will County Brewing Company are favorites. Werk Force Brewing in Plainfield is good, and a couple friends are opening Mad Hatchet soon. I know there are others they love, if I can remember I’ll let you know.
