I was doing ok until I talked to the nurse. Now I'm freaking the F out. I went this morning for baseline monitoring and had a total of 54 follicles.... For some reason I'm freaking out about the injections. I have to do 225 IU of gonal and I have a LOT of the vials so I'm mixing all of them (plus the menopur) into 1 vial of the liquid. I did injections for IUI but that didn't freak me out.
Estimated ER is next friday (10 days). Part of what's freaking me out now is that I'm at a new RE (cheaper) but it's 7 hrs away from me. I'm monitoring at my old RE who did my IUI which was a little weird but they provide stat results before 2pm.
We're planning on an FET since they said the success rates are slightly higher and will do that the month after. This shit's getting real.
Good luck!! I hope the next 10 days passes by quickly for you! What is freaking you out about the injections?
I have a lot of gonal f vials that a friend gave me from her IVF and they're 75 IU so I know I need 3 of them and they said I can mix the menopur and gonal together so it's only 1 injection but aren't the needles different sizes?
Someone else on the FB support group said with that many follicles I'm at a much greater risk of OHSS which now has me freaking out too.
I really think I need to get out of my head.
fairfax, For some reason since my IUI's failed I now consider IVF the real deal. I know a lot of people have success with IUI but in my head since I failed it's like that was the practice round if that makes any sense. I really just need to stop thinking I think.
You've got this! Just breathe, and remember you've done injections in the past. Just take it one shot at a time.
The first injection is is always the worst for me. I've done this all before but it's been a few years. I just placed an order for my meds today and admit I'm feeling overwhelmed knowing how many vials and needles will be showing up.

I totally get it. We are now 2.5 years into this and are preparing for a transfer at the end of the month. Even though this is what we’ve been working towards (obviously other than getting pregnant naturally or through IUI) I am freaked out and like “maybe we should delay a little?”

You are going to be fine! The first few injections are the worst because it’s that mental thing about sticking yourself, but after that, it’s easier! Good luck!!

You can def mix the menopur and gonal f together if you want but I hear menopur stings (I’ve never taken it) and I found gonal f to be absolutely painless so I probably wouldn’t want to make a giant more painful injection out of combining a lot of fluids into one dose with the menopur. I think the pokes are nbd but the burning sucks (I took cetrotide which burned a little.) Totally personal preference though.
You aren’t currently on stims and have 54 follicles? I don’t remember your diagnosis, but you have PCOS right?
Nope this is the first time doing IVF. I did my injections last night but at baseline in the morning they counted 54 follices (30 on left and 24 on right). Yes, I do have PCOS and we have male factor also.

So that's your antral follicle count, correct? My REs typically stopped counting at like 12 for each side.

Yes, I switched RE's and the new one I'm at wants every follicle counted. My next monitoring appt is Friday and the orders for that one are to count and measure everyone.

Ah, I totally get that! You can do this!! We’re doing a donor cycle so I don’t know about the regular IVF meds but there were a crap ton for us and it was a little overwhelming for a few days. You’ll get used to it and it’ll be habit in no time! :-)
