It's 100% me in our house. I get irritated when Dick Durbin sends me the auto generated stuff but I still send him letters. My representative (or his staffer) is much better about writing personal responses addressing my issues but he's also not the Majority Whip...

I'm more likely to engage in slacktivism and send a generated letter from a website.
H is more likely to be aware of pending legislation without the helpful email reminders that I get from places like PP and ACLU.
Neither of us will write a real letter. But, our reps right now are people that we generally agree with. I guess we could be supportive that they're doing what we like.
I am. MH has voted once in his entire life, because his parents made him. He doesn't vote in local elections because he hasn't lived where he's registered to vote since he became old enough, and he doesn't vote in national elections because they don't count absentee ballots unless the race is super duper close.

I am. I went to DC in high school and met with our Reps/Senators and drilled them. I also helped our former Governor campaign but since College I have gotten less and less involved. I am still registered to vote in Minnesota but haven't had to since moving. I dunno if I will be good and brush up when local elections come around.
ETA: I'll probably still vote in my home district because for the life of me it seems to still go to Michelle Bachmann. IMO she is an idiot so although I usually fall right she bugs me and I'd love someone else in her spot.
M told me that a guy he works with told him that the military prefers married SM's because it's their spouses who do the majority of letter writing to their Congress members. Who knows if that's a true statement, but I can kind of believe it.

I was just going to ask if you were in MB's district! I think I read somewhere that the polls are close there...hmmm let me see if I can find it.

I swear the voters just see the R and check the box. I'm convinced if they ever heard her speak she wouldn't win but then again my hometown is Country/Middle Class and true to the article very conservative. Her running for President just shows how ridiculous she is. I watched her speak when the RNC was coming to Saint Paul and she literally didn't know the twin cities were two separate cities (Minneapolis (1) and St. Paul (2))
ETA: I also campaigned for Mark Kennedy and miss him. He was such a classy dude.

Wait, what does that even mean? He likes letter writers? What if the letters are in disagreement?
If I were ever in a conservative district, I don't think my reps would be thrilled that I was a bored military wife with too much time to write letters.

See that's what I was confused about as well but this guy obviously had no facts to back up his claim. I do think spouses write more but that doesn't mean that what they are writing about is what the DOD wants in regards to budget, retirement, insurance, etc.
