Jasper was born 1/22/2019 after a failed induction by emergency c-section.
I saw the OB Monday morning and he told me that I could go to the hospital at 4 pm and begin my induction. Once we got to the hospital everything was so calm and moving smoothly. I took a shower, got hooked up to all the monitors, and had Cervadil placed. After 4 hours a nurse came to check on my monitors and immediately called for help. Three more nurses came rushing in and flipped me over onto my left side, put oxygen on me, and removed the cervadil. They found his heartbeat again, but was slow. Everything was ok. An hour later I was put on a portable monitor and oxygen because every time I went to the restroom his heart rate would drop. We would wait through the night for improvement. At 5 a.m. I started pitocin and it was soon turned off because his heart rate would decline with each contraction. At 8 the midwife came in and told me that we were going to start pitocin again at midnight if everything looked ok. At 1045 the midwife came back with an update that the baby had to come out because his heart wasn't tolerant to the contractions I was having on my own. Within 45 minutes he was out. Once we left the OR we had a lot of skin to skin. It's all kind of a blur during those next 6 hours. Nursing has been a challenge, but I think we are both getting the hang of it now.
