Does anyone know if you can stay in base housing while your spouse is on a remote assignment? I will call the housing office in the morning to verify, but I just wanted to see if anyone had experience with this. As much as I don't like the area we currently live in, I am thinking of staying put with my 2 year old since I really don't have a lot of support back home.

I don't see why not. You'll have orders for that location with your name, and you're entitled to BAH dependent rate, so I would expect the entitlement for housing to be treated the same.

I believe you have a choice whether to stay at your current duty station or go to his follow on after his remote. Either way it is my understanding that you are entitled all the same benefits as if he was there.
ETA; The AF works this way. I have a friend whose H is 1 yr remote unaccompanied to Korea and she was given the option to stay here or move to Dover. She opted to move to Dover since she has 3 boys in school. She did have to tell his shop so they could cut orders to Dover. Her H was able to get his stuff to Korea and the rest went to Dover.
Okay, that's what I thought. H is AF, going to Korea. He requested OCONUS bases for his follow-on, but if we get a stateside base I may consider moving there while H goes on his remote.

I know our base still includes the remote spouses as if they are still part of the squad/shop so that may be a really nice support or reason to stay at your current base.
