Nothing much going on this week. I have to get 3 small fillings on Thursday. Blah! Monday the 11th is my meeting with the RE. In the meantime, I have some random questions - not sure if anyone here would know the answer...
1. Going down the IVF rabbit hole - I have seen people who didn’t do a month of birth control first. Is a month of BC guaranteed or does it depend?
2. Will I go through menopause sooner because they harvest a bunch of eggs in one cycle?
I did BCP (10 days I think?) my first cycle, along with Lupron and the combo overly suppressed me. The next 2 cycles I did an Estrace priming protocol.
No idea about menopause, sorry! Ask the Dr and let us know!
I'm officially one of you guys now so I'll jump in and start posting after lurking a bit here the past few months.
Just picked up my meds today and will be starting my first IVF cycle whenever my period decides to show up this week. We've been trying since November 2017 and I've "graduated" into AMA since then so here we are.
I have been really good about not falling down message board rabbit holes (YouTube is another story) so some of the abbreviations I've seen here I don't fully understand.
Is there anything else I should share with the class?

Welcome. I’m so sorry you’re here but we are a good and supportive group.
You don’t have to share more, but some things people share if they’re comfy might be whether they’re TTC #1, 2 (or more), what diagnosis you and your partner have, if any, whether you’ve done treatment before, etc. If you have any acronym questions or questions about the IVF process just let us know. It can feel overwhelming when you’re first getting started but it’s pretty manageable I think once you get the hang of it.

Ask us anything. Nothing is TMI or a dumb question.

wise_rita welcome! Share as much or as little as you'd like...hopefully you won't be here long!
My retrieval is officially scheduled for tomorrow morning, I triggered last night and I am SO uncomfortable, so I can't wait to get this over with. I have about 24 good follicles, so I'm crossing everything for great numbers and NO OHSS (already stocked up on Gatorade, ramen and canned soup lol).
welcome wise_rita, i've only been here a short while, but the board has been so helpful already. i spent hours searching and reading posts about my trigger shot before i had to give it last night and it helped calm me down and it really was no big deal as most people said.
good luck stellelinds25! hope everything goes well tomorrow. 24 sounds like a great number!

Good luck! I hope you get plenty of good eggs and no OHSS!
I’m starting provera tomorrow to hopefully kickstart a cycle. Then we’re upping my clomid from 50mg to 100mg so hopefully I’ll respond. I responded to 50mg last time (in 2015) we TTC so was bummed when it didn’t do anything last cycle. I’m nervous about the side effects with a higher dose. Also, my H travels a lot for work so I’m really hoping our timing works out. If my cycle starts before the 10 days of provera are up, we might be screwed.

I took a ton of clomid for my last retrieval, and I didn’t get any side effects. Hopefully, you’ll find the same.

My lining was 9mm and trilaminar!!!! That’s the thickest it’s ever been for a frozen transfer so assuming all looks ok with my bloodwork I’m starting progesterone tonight to transfer on Tuesday!

So, since I have had no side effects from the stim meds (Menopur and Gonal F), I had myself convinced I wasn't responding at all. I have read WAY too many discouraging IVF blogs :/
Anyways, clearly it's doing something because the clinic said they are pleased with response and to add Ganirelix starting tomorrow. These numbers don't mean much to me - is this decent response? I'm on day 5.
right ovary - 9 follicles, largest at 13 left ovary - 6 follicles, largest at 11 7.6 lining
Anyone take Ganirelix? Any tips? Did you have any side effects?
I’m home and resting...we got 24 eggs, but only 8 of them were mature, so I’m a little bummed about that, but my Dr said those are great numbers. I’ll get my fertilization report tomorrow so hoping for the best! If all goes well, the plan is to transfer on Monday!

I hope those 8 do super well and turn into great embryos! It’s a really great starting point although I’ve also been in the position of having more follicles pre-retrieval than eggs after retrieval and adjusting to that can take the wind out of the sails a bit. I hope these 8 are all you need!

I haven't been on Ganirelix so I cant help there.
But from my personal experience those numbers sounds promising! For both my IVFs <10 follicles combined for my ovaries and even less eggs retrieved. I just dont make a ton of eggs. So 15 potential follies sounds like a good start! There may have been some hiding too that weren't counted.
I also didnt feel much different until right before the ER. I felt full/bloated with minor "twinges" closer to ER. But again, I didnt make many follies/eggs so that may have played into that. Everyone body responds differently. Try not to read into those blogs too much! Fx things keep progressing well!
we had our IUI today. there was a hiccup with the appointment time for DH's dropoff and it was really stressful for a bit figuring things out, the changes to my schedule at work, getting coverage, etc, but we made it happen. just crossing my fingers that this was the 'boost' we needed and preparing to deal with the two week wait.

That is a great response! I didnt take ganirelix (cetrotide, which is similar) but found the side effects minimal. Mostly just the normal bloating as the follicles got bigger. My response on day 6 was terrible at my first scan and I got a good number of eggs at retrieval so in my opinion you’re well on track! Good luck.

Glad it all worked out! Since you’re doing IUI and I’m sticking in 5 day embryos you’re my TWW cycle buddy - our dates are pretty close. Fingers crossed for you.
I got the official report from the geneticist. It’s a little hard to see it all in writing. It makes it feel more real. In it she suggests CCS testing. It appears my RE does it. Has anyone here done that type of testing?
