Happy Monday y’all! I’m starting Lupron tonight so FET is officially happening. Other than that nothing exciting for us. We are trying to pay down debt right now so no Valentines gifts or plans for us this year. Although I am trying to make cute cards for Gus’s preschool and having a lot of trouble finding what I need.
Also, I’m trying to lose a little weight and make myself eat healthy while we are cycling. It’s only been one day and I desperately want to eat biscuits and bacon for dinner tonight lol. I’m struggling.
We actually got a bunch of snow! A is loving it. I grew up with much colder winters and am now laughing at myself for not owning any snow boots. A calls it "puffy snow" because she's only ever seen the kind that melts.

E has started sleeping with her blanket on her head. She also wakes up several times a night, cries for about 10 seconds, then goes back to sleep. It's driving me nuts because it wakes me up, then I have to pee. I usually don't have trouble falling back to sleep, but I'm more tired then I should be when I get up. I don't know if it's some developmental stuff she's working through (she's saying a few words/word approximations now, and she's also been much more contrary than normal), or if it has something to do with her pacifier, or something else. Anyone else's kid do this?

Yes, DS does this probably once a week/every other week (the crying for 10-20 seconds). We always ignore him, unless it escalates or continues longer than a couple minutes. I'm not really sure what it is, nightmare? frustration at being awake when he's tired? whatever it is, it usually resolves itself quickly. I wouldn't stress it.

Z does this and hes 3. I think he just wakes up enough to be annoyed, but hes still out of it so he just cries for a minute and then lays back down. Unless he keeps crying or escalates, I leave him be. He does it less and less as he gets older though.

Thanks guys. I don't go in unless she's clearly distressed, it just sucks that it happens so often. We ordered a night light to see if that helps. I think maybe she wakes up and doesn't have her pacifier and fusses until she gets it back, but it's very dark in her room so it's difficult to find. Not sure why this is an issue all of the sudden though.

thoseareradishes, G does that too. Since we co-sleep, we both get woken up, but it's really quick and over practically as soon as it starts. You know, just long enough to wake us all up.
Nothing much going on here...G is doing better at pre-school, so that's good! He seems to be settling into the routine, and his ASL is really taking off! He's got "more", "milk", "eat", "please", "open", and "all done", and he combines them to say things like "milk please" or "more milk"...so small sentences. I'm thrilled, it's so nice to finally have an idea of what is going on in his little person brain!
We are in the middle of the longest cold snap in over 20 years and I’m so sick of it!
R will be 3 in June and we are going on a cruise in April. Kids must be potty trained for the pool on the ship and also he’s huge and I’m sick of diapering him, but he has very little interest in potty training. Any tips for potty training a (possibly resistant) boy? We struggled a lot with potty training DD and I’d like to have a better experience this time if possible.

My friend described the cold you're having as "hellscape winter". Makes our BC storm angst pretty pathetic in comparison. ☹️
No potty training tips, but maybe concentrate on getting him poop trained? Probably flameful to say this but nobody's going to notice if he pees in the pool - I'm sure the cruise is more worried about poop.

Agreed. S does this almost nightly and I just chalk it up to being annoyed that he is awake.
oneslybookworm, that is awesome that G is taking to ASL so well! Good for him! I think it makes things so much easier once they start communicating.
S is being a total toddler and we have started with the "terrible twos" a little early. Fully back into hitting and throwing things if he does not get his way. Terrible at sharing. Yelling and doing things to defy us on purpose. It is exhausting.

dellabear, we just got G potty-trained in the last few weeks. We had the seats that go on top of the toilet for nearly a year just for him to get used to the idea (we never did a little potty). I started with certain times of the day always putting him in the potty so like always before a bath, before putting on jammies, if he would let me I would take him right after he woke up in the mornings or nap. But outside of specific times we never really pushed it. We also bought him some “cool” underwear and I let him wear those around the house to get the feeling. He really didn’t like the wet feeling in those so I think that helped him to connect the urge to the action of going. As far as poop, he was closer to poop trained before pee because we would notice him pushing and grab him and sit him on the potty. And we do give treats after he goes. We started with M&Ms for every time he went on the potty. Now he doesn’t ask for stuff every time but sometimes he still will do we keep the M&Ms and also Hersey’s kisses in the house.

For some reason holidays always make me super emotional. I started tearing up at a pic of DS putting valentines into his daycare buddies' bags. 4 years ago I had no idea if this would ever happen. :::sniffle:::

Happy Valentine's day! H got E a Sesame Street blanket and she's in loooove with it. Kid is crazy about Cookie Monster.
oneslybookworm , so good to hear G is picking up signing. We show E new signs as I notice there is something she needs to communicate, so we have a few odd ones, like banana, on, and talk (she likes for me to make her figurines talk to each other).
ETA - She also uses the sign "help" a lot, I bet that would be a good one to show him!
shauni27, my kid is the worst sharer EVER. We went out to dinner last week and I got one chicken finger platter for us to share (its huge and I'm cheap lol) and he had a meltdown about it. "MY CHICKEN! NO FOR MAMA!" while hitting my hands away. OMG. It was so embarrassing. I had to flag the waitress down for an extra plate to split it up and even then he was salty lol.

"help" is the big one we are working on now because I think that is where a lot of our issues are. He wants to do something or get something but he can't, so he starts screeching and yelling. We are really working on it. He can say "help" but we keep repeating it with the sign so he can get the concept. He keeps seem to forget that one.
I am so exhausted. We're moving L into his room and sleep training. He was up all night long screaming. Between being sick, being pregnant and sleep training, I'm basically a zombie.

Oh no kellikans, I hope you get some sleep soon. That sounds so rough. I'm pretty sure E's wake-ups have at least something to do with her pacifier (plus last night it fell out of the crib twice, ugh) but I'm not ready to take it away because I know no one will sleep. So you're a rockstar for toughing it out!

Funny thing is that he never took a paci. We tried, lol. He's been going through a separation anxiety phase and I think moving to his room has just amped it up tenfold.
A woke up last night from some terrible nightmare, screaming and crying and asking to sleep in our bed. So we gave in. I slept horribly. Props to all you cosleepers! A seems to have inherited my love of sleeping diagonally on the bed.

We had something similar happen last week and OMG, worst nights sleep ever. C had his hands on my face and in my hair the whole time while sleeping horizontal. It was brutal. Kudos to cosleepers with toddlers!
We are planning on converting A's crib to a toddler bed this week. She's 23 months next week. She still hasn't tried to climb out of it, but with pending bedrest and then probably c-section, (plus just by gigantic twin belly right now), I can't lift her in and out of the crib. H does bedtime, but if she's home with me most days on bedrest/leave, then I'll need to be able to put her down for nap.
Speaking of the twin pregnancy, one of the boys hates NST tests. he won't stay still long enough for them to get a good reading on him. So I was sent to L&D for a BPP and monitoring last week Thursday and this past Friday. They are definitely picking up contractions, at 34 weeks. Crazy to think we're going from 1-3 kids just like that. I was cleared to go to work for this next week only, as of my Friday OB appt before going to L&D. I have another appointment on Monday, so we'll see if I'm still cleared!
Sorry i suck about checking in here. I read everything thenby the time i go to respond i either havr to work or get J.
J had his first major illness this week. Throwing up for 3 days (on me most times) then a day of diarrhea. Not fun. He is better but now dh is sick. Ugh. Thankfully j was sick sunday through wednesday and i had snow days tuesday and wednesday so i was home with him.
Sleep training is still a nightmare. I think Leo cried for 4 hours last night. He wakes up every hour and just cries. If we go in, it makes it worse. Around 3am he eventually fell asleep sitting up and DH had to go in to lay him down. Then he only slept until 5. Fell asleep again and got up for the day at 7. Ugh.
And there was conjunctivitis exposure in his class last week and now his eyes are crusty with some discharge. And I have absolutely no sick time left, but he can't go to daycare. This last month or so has been absolute hell in this house.
We’re currently waiting for a nurse to graduate us from the RE! I just want to go home and nap. I have not been sleeping and it is very tough, especially with first tri sickness and exhaustion.
