This is one of the only books in high school that we were assigned to read that I dnf, but instead read the cliff's notes and bs's my way through the test questions on it.
That book took me probably ten years to finish. I’d read a chapter, remember how much I don’t like the book, put it down for months and read other things, pick it up again, and repeat the cycle. I wouldn’t read it again, but that’s me.
Maybe 7-8 years ago there was a Moby Dick Big Read going on. I listened to it on audio (you could download either the audio or text for free at the time). It took FOREVER. It was a bit dense, a lot of 19th century prose, and macho. If you want to read it to say you read it, I won't stop you, because I've certainly done that before, but I can't promise you'll enjoy it.
