So I was going to get a tattoo soon, and I had talked with STBX about it a lot. I was going to get a tattoo that was symbolizing all of us. But now I'm wavering in general. I think I still want a wrist/inner arm tattoo.
My last design idea was about my connection to nature and my kids - three peaks and then H and I would have our constellations above. I probably most like that last one, but I couldn't decide if I wanted more realistic or geometric mountains. Now I think I should wait awhile, but this boring day at work has me looking for ideas again. Anybody want to post pictures or links to fun tattoos for new inspiration for me?
I have a small tattoo in the same place as your #3, and while it hurt, it wasn’t as bad as I expected. H has more tattoos and says that shading (like in #3) hurts a lot more. More needles in the shader.
I actually posted in Randoms on ML today with four options because I am hoping to get another on tomorrow. I prefer simple lines, but I like all of your options. Stylistically, I think I like #3 the best, actually.
Id suggest finding the style you like - pinterest and ig are good for that. Then finding an artist who does that style. Also, there are tons of tattoo conventions where you can browse.
I have 3, but none in a similar spot, but none of them really hurt all that much
I have a simple line drawing in the same position as the #3 options and it honestly didn't hurt at all. it took around 20 minutes. My first tattoo is a pretty large piece on my back that has quite a bit of shading, and took about 6 hours total in the chair...and that was much more unpleasant. lol But Was it the shading, or the location of the shading? Who knows. The second tattoo definitely made me thing I can be a tattoo person because of the ease of it. I would have more, but I am kind of picky about where to put things and haven't quite figured out where I want the next one.
Personally, I am a fan of simple, clean lines - but this is going on your body for the rest of your life, so it should be what you are a fan of. I have noticed that my simple piece has faded more than my more intricate piece. But, for me, it works. its a memorial tattoo for my Dad and I kind of like the fading lines because it is more representative of my memories. They may be faded, but, they are still there.

I'm still noodling on the exact artwork but my next one is going to be vintage botanicals - a daffodil and a marigold for my kids, plus flowers for every place I've lived - white jasmine for southern California, a desert poppy for AZ, a magnolia (or azalea) for NC, lilac for MI and peony for IL.

That is a good idea - and probably beautiful in color. Plus I like that you could always add more flowers later.
One of the people I am probably going to is into botanicals a lot. I really like this one that has flowers, bees and honeycomb that she did:
I also suggest finding an artist whose style you like, and then talking to them about the design. The last thing you want is a tattoo just like someone else's.

I do have two artists that I like and happen to be friends with also. They are a couple and the woman does a lot of botanicals and her husband does a lot of mountains, so I trust he'll be able to turn my ideas into something unique, because they are very much against copying another design out there. Then again, the ones I like are pretty universal, aren't they?
Here are a couple he has done that I like, but you're right that I don't want it exactly like one I've seen before:

Oh my gosh, I LOVE this idea and may have to steal it. I've considered getting floral tattoos before, but I also had promised myself a while back that I wouldn't get another tattoo unless it had meaning for me (I have 2 that I got in college that mean nothing and I don't even like then anymore).
I've also considered getting tattoos to represent the states I've lived in, but never could conceptualize what that would look like. I'm on my 5th - and unlikely my last - state already so it would be hard to find something cohesive that looks nice.

State flowers may be a perfect solution!!!
Mine aren't state flowers, just flowers that really mean something to me about each state, if that makes sense? Like, I have really strong smell associations with this one particular walking path at my college that was lined with star jasmine bushes, and I adore lilacs because they remind me of my grandma's house in Michigan, etc.

Makes total sense! Yes, I think something that really represents the state for you is perfect. Honestly lilacs remind me of the midwest
I’m not a tattoo person but I’ve thought about getting a small lemon on either the inside of my wrist or on my foot. I prefer simple line drawings over the realistic style.

Why a lemon? More like a sour thing or a make lemons into lemonade thing?

I have no tattoos but when my doctors give me the green light a few years from now I’m thinking about getting a small koi fish with a lotus flower on my inner arm, just up from my wrist. A koi in a certain position represents struggle over adversity, even specifically in a fight not yet over. Pairing it with a lotus represents rebirth. Put together it’s a good representation of my recovery from leukemia, hope against relapse and stem cell transplant.
If that tattoo goes well, I’ve also thought about getting a stylized tattoo to represent my grandma, to whom I was very close. She loved cardinals and they are also a bird known for representing loved ones we’ve lost. Also, among her last words were “life rolls on” so I’d love to incorporate that somehow.

I have a full sleeve of flowers and they all represent important people, places, and moments in my life. It was so much fun to build out, and I couldn’t be happier with the end result.

Lemons are a symbol of my DD’s babyhood. She was a micropreemie so her earliest months were challenging. It’s probably along the lines of “lemonade out of lemons.” Proof of resilience.

I’m obsessed with flower tattoos. I like the mountain designs from the OP, too!
@@@ I currently have no tattoos but someday I’d like to get a floral tattoo with the birth month flowers of the babies we lost (and, hopefully, maybe, someday, the birth month flower of a living child.) I really want to get it now but I think I’d feel awful potentially having to go back and add more and more flowers to it so I think it’s something I’ll explore once we are finished trying.
Can I just share here that I'd like another tattoo, but feel bad getting it from someone other than my sister in law? But her style is just not my thing.
downtoearth, my husband has one that looks very similar to number three on his leg. I really like it.
I just have two very small tattoos and I plan to actually cover one of them up (it is just not what I pictured it looking like.)
The one I currently have is a VERY small sage leaf on my inner wrist. It is so small that it does not at all look like sage, so I plan to cover it with something more like this (I think just one leaf, not the whole plant as that would get pretety :
My sister and I are getting matching tattoos (I am getting a simple version like the smallest one here, hers will be much more elaborate):
And then I really would love at least one more, but I am not sure what or where. I want it to mean something, but I am not sure what yet. I like styles like below:
