I’ve been away a few years now I think, so I wanted to re-intro. I guess my last account was deactivated or something, I was bigredgum then. It’s probably better to start fresh anyhow. We’ve been TTC since 2010, mostly unexplained but H has had waxing and waning sperm. I’m 33 now, H is 37. The long version of our story if you care to read:
I was here through our 1st IVF cycle, which resulted in nothing other than a chemical. Some may remember my sister ended up pregnant at that time. My niece is now 2, she is full of spunk and my sister is a GREAT Mom.
I don’t think I checked in during our 2nd IVF cycle. It was a mess. I had a hysteroscopy before and all was clear. They only retrieved 5 eggs, whereas there were 13 with our first cycle. The next day they called and only 1 fertilized. Somehow 3 more fertilized the next day, they froze them all at day 3. This cycle I had a wacky beta that was up and down, they worried about ectopic, but ultimately it resolved itself. In the midst of that, my SIL announced she was pregnant with her first, not planned. My nephew came in November. We haven’t met him yet because they live in Germany, but he is a cutie from pics/Skype.
I really hated the clinic we were treating at, as well as the cold, my job... with minimal ties to central NY, we decided to move in August 2018. I had always lived in the same 60 mile radius and wanted to experience somewhere new. We settled on Charleston since we fell in love with it when we visited a few years ago and have been to the Carolinas often.
We decided I would take some time off to focus on our 3rd and probably last IVF cycle. H works from home, so thankfully he kept his job. I did pick up an adjunct role at a College just 2 days a week, but otherwise focused on IVF and relaxing for once.
I had to go through another hysteroscopy and this time he shaved down part of a heart shaped uterus. The first clinic said everything was fine. He said it was mild, no telling yet if it will effect my outcome. My retrieval was in November, it was a freeze all. Thankfully, I have 4 good quality blasts waiting for transfer, our best outcome yet. We’ll do one at a time.
The clinic was closed for 2 weeks in Dec, and then I ended up needing a surgery in early Dec for a damn pilonidal cyst I have been dealing with since 2009. I had to have a cleft lift since two prior surgeries failed, essentially a bunch of diseased tissue was removed and the top of my butt crack sewn together, had a drain at first and a very painful recovery, so FET has been on hold while I recovered from that. We wonder if this infection brewing for years adversely affected our fertility at all, who knows.
Anyhow, I just started BCP today to prep for our FET next cycle. We are more settled in down here, loving the warmth in Winter! I’m sure I’ll be melting in July haha. We’re renting until we finish FETs so we have an idea of where to buy and what size house we need based on how everything works out.
I see some folks I recognize and a lot of new ones too. Good luck to all!
Good luck! My brother lives in Central NY - one of the snowiest places in the US. I'm currently in the Philly area and my mom wants to move down here from Northern NY because she's sick of dealing with 6+ feet of snow every winter.

Yeah, he might be from our area. 123.8 in on average. Miserable half the year, but I did love Fall there which isn’t the same down here.
I don't really go here anymore but love to lurk on this board and cheer people on. I remember you! Good luck with everything and I'm glad you're having a great experience with the move.
