I finished An American Marriage. Picked back up 50 Shades Freed, and started The Husband's Secret, which I hope I'll like, I enjoyed Big LIttle Lies as a quick, fluffy read.
QOTW: I'd have to go maid. Thankfully my husband will cook more than me, and we have access to take out. A cleaning service is my dream, they really deep clean better than you ever do.
I'm reading "Where the Crawdads Sing". I'm enjoying it a lot, though some things about it are a little unrealistic to me. I'm reading it on a Kindle that won't hold a charge, so I'm trying to get through it ASAP so I can switch to my new Kindle (it's an expired library loan, so as soon as I turn on WiFi or switch Kindles, it's gone).
I think "A Spark of Light" by Jodi Piccoult is next. I've heard it's not very good, but I had to wait forever for the library loan to come through so I want to read it anyway.
QOTW: Cook. I really don't enjoy either, but I spend a lot more time on a daily basis cooking than I do cleaning. Plus it would be so nice for someone else to plan meals. Also, I can deal with a less than perfectly clean house, but I still need to eat every day, so I think cooking would be a better value for me!
I read Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens, too. In all, I really liked it, especially the biology of it and the way the marsh was practically a character. I agree with wildrice that I found a few parts unbelievable, but it still kept me hooked and I’d definitely recommend it.
Read: Roomies by Christina Lauren - 4/5* --- I really liked this book a lot! It's probably my favorite one so far by theses authors.
A Very Large Expanse of Sea - 3.5/5* --- I liked this book because I like Tahereh Mafi, but I wanted more from the characters.
Currently reading: Autoboyography by Christina Lauren - really like this one. It's YA and about a bi teenaged boy living in Provo, UT. He falls in love with his TA mentor, a gay Mormon. So far so good. 50% done.
Verity by Colleen Hoover - I'm not really Colleen Hoover fan, but if she would start writing books like this one, I very well good be. It's a romantic thriller, heavy on the thriller and it's scaring me half to death! I love it!
15/52 books read
QOTW: If I have enough money for a private chef, then I have enough money for a housekeeper.
Since last Friday I have read: Jamaica Inn by Daphne du Maurier 4 stars/ classics This was a lot darker than I was expecting!
What It Means When a Man Falls from the Sky by Lesley Nneka Arimah 4 stars/short story fiction collection This is a really great collection, I really liked almost all of them!
Total so far for the year: 24 Currently reading: Oathbringer (The Stormlight Archive, #3) by Brandon Sanderson - fantasy; this is over a thousand pages so I'll be reading it forever
QOTW: A maid because my husband does most of the cooking anyways ha!
If the maid included cleaning up every dish after cooking, then the maid. I think I hate cooking because I hate the mess afterward.
I finished On the Come Up (very good, I really enjoyed the rap lyrics), and am reading The Residence, which is White House staff stories about past presidents and their families. Next on the list is Where the Crawdads Sing.

Read: -Fierce: How Competing for Myself Changed Everything by Aly Raisman (audio) --Head On (Lock In, #2) by John Scalzi One Heart at a Time by Delilah (would not recommend) -Unlikely Companions: The Adventures of an Exotic Animal Doctor (or, What Friends Feathered, Furred, and Scaled Have Taught Me about Life and Love) by Laurie Hess -The Nine Old Men: Lessons, Techniques, and Inspiration from Disney's Great Animators by Andreas Deja -Building a Dream: The Art of Disney Architecture by Beth Dunlop -The Witches of New York by Ami McKay
Currently Reading -Wild Boy: My Life in Duran Duran by Andy Taylor -Twinchantment by Elise Allen- this is an Advance Review Copy (comes out in April) that I got free from my library. It's for ages 7-13 but I'm enjoying it so far. -Feed by Mira Grant (audio- rec of ufcasey from awhile ago) I'm 1.5 hours in (of the 15 on audio) and so far everyone is insufferable, but the story is decent although it's mostly been background so far. DH is listening, too, and we both like that they main characters are faux twins through adoption (like our kids)

I do not think you are going to have the same reaction to this book based on that. I apologize in advance! Please don't black list my recs based on this hahaha

Based on a few things they've said so far I have some speculation about what will happen....but we'll see.
I finished How to Stop Time by Matt Haig, 3*. For being a slow book with plot problems I still enjoyed it. I started reading The Beach by Alex Garland. I kept wavering back and forth on whether to read this or not. I hope it's not too gory.
QOTW: Never have to cook. I would much rather have someone cook for myself and the family than have someone clean for us. I spend way too much time cooking for everyone and I have always felt weird having someone clean for me, feels too personal. Plus I actually like cleaning.

The Lost Man by Jane Harper (very good but I liked her series books better)
Captive: A Mother's Crusade to Save Her Daughter from a Terrifying Cult by Catherine Oxenberg (not bad but her daughter still is involved with the cult at the end)
An Elderly Lady is Up to No Good by Helene Tursten (very short but fun)
Also 4-5 cookbooks
Reading: The Care and Feeding of Ravenously Hungry Girls by Anissa Gray
I don't think I was around for last week's thread, so in the past two weeks, I've finished Where the Crawdads Sing and The Feather Thief, and I'm currently reading Dawn (Xenogenesis #1) and Dust (Silo #3), as well as dragging along and not really reading the meditation book I restarted several weeks ago.
QOTW: Definitely free cleaning. I'd be healthier if I had someone to cook for me, but I actually don't mind cooking that much and I really *really* miss having a cleaning service. If it was free, my house would be spotless. LOL!
This week I finished: *Save Me A Seat by Sarah Weeks and Gita Varadarajan *The Valley of the Dolls by Jacqueline Susann *The Swing of Things by Linda Keir *The In Between Days by Eva Woods Yesterday I started The Lying Game by Ruth Ware and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. I've never read any of the HP books (or seen any of the movies!)-I said I wanted to wait until DS (9) was ready to read them and we'd read them together. He came home this week and announced he wanted to start so we each got a copy at the library on Thursday. This should be a fun adventure!
I would rather have someone clean for me. The idea of a consistently clean house is so, so appealing.
Finally finished The Girl in the Tower. Y’all I’m not sure I can do book 3 unless it’s a HEA. The poor girl has been through enough and the bad writing doesn’t help her.
Also finished Darker by EL James- very inconsistent with Fifty Shades Darker. And not great.
Her Lifeline- prime freebie. It was ok, almost too much drama for one group of people IMO.

Last week I finished The Witch Elm by tana French. I also read Sputnik’s Guide to Life on Earth (my 11 year old sons book that he thought I would like - it was very good!). I read I’ll Be There for You by Kelsey Miller about Friends - it was meh. Finally I read Pieces of Her by karin slaughter and devoured it.

QOTW - never clean for sure.
I just finished Piece of Her and loved it!
I read it in a day and a half! It helped that we were on a long car ride but I couldn’t put it down.

I read it at the same time as another book so it took a few days but I agree it was so good and hard to put down. It’s been awhile since I read a good fiction book.
Finished: My Grandmother Asked me to Tell You She's Sorry, Fredrick Backman, 4* It was quirky, but I really enjoyed it.
Currently reading: End of Your Life Book Club, Will Schwalbe - I also picked a fiction book, as I just am not "into it." I will try to finish. Still Me, Jojo Moyes - it was available and is an easy, comfortable read.
QOTW: I would choose to never clean. I love to cook and will happily do that, I currently have a housecleaner that comes every other week. Having it done more more regularly than that would be awesome! Plus, they could clean up my mess from cooking!
