What day do you meal plan and what days do you grocery shop?
I typically plan on Fridays for Sun night- Thursday night. Groceries are usually delivered Sunday morning.
I feel like we need to do better with weekend meal planning. So how do you plan and shop for weekend meals? Do I need to add another delivery spot for Fri morning? I don’t like going to the grocery store in general and typically am solo parenting during the week.
I need at least over $30 fir them to deliver, and they charge more for under $100 but I am ok with that. Do you all usually do 2 grocery runs a week? Do I need to plan on Thursdays and deliver Sat morning? And plan Sat- Thurs?
I don’t do delivery. So I plan on Sunday and then shop later on Sunday. We don’t like meat that’s been frozen so sometimes DH will shop mid-week if we’re planning on having something with meat later in the week.
I plan through the week and Dh shops Thursday or I pick up Friday. How well planned we are depends on if Dh is off. If I am cooking, I have each day planned. If dh is off and cooking, he doesn't want to be structured. If he wants to make multiple runs, then go for it. I try to have chicken, potatoes, burgers and canned veggies on hand for any spur of the moment meals.
I make a list on Saturday and usually shop on Saturday or Sunday. Once a week is usually ok. Occasionally I will have DH stop on the way home to grab something we are low on. That is usually just wine though, lol.
I work on my list throughout the week and H adds to it as he sees things that are needed too.
My List for delivery is finalized by Friday night and I run it by him before I click send. In other words, if he didn’t mention something then I wasn’t the only one who forgot. Groceries arrive Saturday am so I can begin meal prepping sat afternoon and save the rest for Sunday.
We also usually have the things that can’t be found at Aldi to get from a real store and that usually happens Sunday. Usually it’s lunchmeat and cheese, rotisserie chicken and any specific toiletries or weird non-Aldi items, like this week is a red notebook.

I used to plan on Saturday and order for Sunday pick up. That worked well because we could go right after church. I am switching to planning on Friday and ordering for Saturday pick up. I do Kroger clicklist if you have a Kroger near you.
My meal plan usually stops after dinner on Friday. And I'm finding that to still be the case now that I'm doing it a day earlier. Sometimes I have enough food on hand (frozen meals, pizzas, etc) to feed the kids and I if its just us on Saturday. If DH is off all weekend, it usually takes a trip to the grocery store in town to get us through to our Sunday pick up. Or we order take out lol.
Time is usually my biggest issue. Our grocery store in town is wonderful considering the size of our town, but it's expensive. The Kroger we use is 20ish minutes away, so even with clicklist, it's still an hour long process.

I maintain a shopping list on my phone, for things that we run out of and ideas that occur to me throughout the week.
Other than that the weekly shopping list tends to be pretty repetitive. DS eats a good variety of things but tends not to like experiments, so as long as I have the right mix of breakfast things, salad fixins, and a couple different proteins and carbs for the week, we are in decent shape. If I want some variety for myself I'll either do a batch of something on Sunday or Monday, or I have to keep to things that are quick and easy to prepare.
I try to do meal planning on Thursday and grocery pick up Friday. ( we do online) This gets me through the weekend and then I meal prep on Sundays. We usually eat out or order in or have something really simple Sunday night because I am over cooking by that point. I plan Saturday through Friday, but only prep through Friday. On Sunday I meal prep breakfast and lunch for the week and dinner for Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday I cook again through Friday dinners.
I meal plan on Friday, and then shop either Saturday or Sunday. Typically I don't meal plan for the weekends, because we tend to be out doing things and eat out more. Although sometimes I will and put something in the crockpot. I have a list that I have been slowing training DH to write on as he notices that we are running out or low of something. Typically I do the grocery shopping, although this weekend he did it while I worked.
Right now I'm meal planning a few weeks in advance just to keep things from repeating too much. Major shopping once a month with a minor pick up mid month. We get milk when we run out.
