Win: I think we decided on Austin for my birthday. YAHOO! I also suggested we tack on an extra couple of days and go to Houston to see his brother and family. We can also do some scouting there seeing as moving is back on the table. Win for birthday trips AND killing two birds with one stone!
Whine: I feel like doriswe as we are getting another 5-8 inches of snow today. WHEN WILL SPRING COME?
Whine: I've gained about 10 pounds and I started tracking calories again to lose it. ERMAHGAD I feel so hungry all the d*man time.
My whine and win is one in the same. We got a few inches of snow last night and of course the plow had to come thru exactly 5 minutes before I leave for work. This created a huge mound of snow at the end of the driveway that I would not just drive thru. But my neighbor was out already shoveling his driveway and came over ASAP and shoveled mine. I love him!!!
I am adding a WTF to this. I posted this over on ML last night but I needed to share it with you guys because it is so damn crazy.
The most disgusting thing EVER happened today at work. We will call the male employee who saw this happen Bob.
Bob comes out of the public bathroom almost gagging. He flags a manager down and pulls him into a hallway to show him a video he took of another gentleman's feet in the bathroom stall. Totally weird, I know but just wait.
The video shows this gentleman has taken off his shoes and socks and has them pushed to the side. THEN he has a bag of shit. Not junk, LITERALLY SHIT!!! He is scooping shit out of this bag and Bob is assuming he is throwing it in the toilet. BUT Bob also hears what sounds like scrubbing. Bob has had enough and leaves and that is when he flags down a mgr. The mgr goes into the men's restroom to see WTF is going on and he almost vomited. The guy was gone but this bag of shit was on the floor and he smeared shit ALL OVER the walls of the stall.
Win: This is my, typing from MY HOUSE. After being without power since Sunday at noon, the lights and heat are back on. We checked out of a hotel this morning and we don't have to go back, and my pups are sprung from the kennel and snuggling with me while I "work" today. Oh well, I was in the office before 7 for the past 2 days, so it'll all even out, right?
Whine: my fridge and freezer clean out. OMG, the waste of throwing away 5 full-to-the-point-of-breaking kitchen bags of food.
spindle92 I don't even know what to say to that. I'll pass the Clorox wipes to you, though.
spindle92,Wow that shit story is crazy. I wonder what the hell was going on. Maybe he didn't want to get it on his shoes and could claim he didn't do it?
bullygirl979, I feel you on the eating healthy again. I've been counting calories again and bringing healthy snacks to work like clementines and not bringing anything more than what I need to eat. I've also been making sure I cut back on my portion size. H's valentine's day truffles were not helpful to my weight loss goals but damn they were delicious.
I've heard nothing but good things about Austin. I've also heard their food scene is great.
Whines: I could not sleep last night. I was still awake at 2 am. I am tired today. It's also raining again and supposedly tomorrow. I have an outdoor soccer game to go to.
chalupa , YAHOO for power! Was it wiped out from the crazy windstorms?
Yep! 68mph wind gusts after a week of rain did not end well for trees and power lines. There were 125,000 without power on Sunday, and it's down to about 7,000 now, so some people are still waiting
ETA: Oh, and the only reason our power is back on now is because they brought additional crews in from Alabama to help work around the clock. Western PA needed to be dug out by Alabama. What on earth kind of contingency planning is that?

chalupa, that's crazy. They were predicting the same here, with gusts up to 75mph. They told everyone to be prepared for widespread outages. I looked on our supplier's website and I think the highest I saw was 4k without power in my county. That sucks you guys got hit that hard but that is good you were able to find a hotel with power!

Well, about 1-2 years back we had a crazy windstorm and most of county was without power for almost a week. The gas/electric company was HEAVILY criticized for it and there was actually an investigation. For this storm they brought in a ton of crews from the NE. I'm guessing that is why they used help from Alabama.
I'm so fed up with all of this that I'm calling an electrician to install a transfer switch so I can run the fridge/furnace/couple lights off a portable generator if this ever happens again. Of course, that will pretty much guarantee that we never lose power again, but I figure it's 1. pretty cheap as a form of insurance and 2. we can take it with us if/when we move

neonpink, yeah that is one thing I don't like about working from home is I sit 5 feet from the pantry! Although I don't really buy junk food so that is one positive.
And yes! P has been to Austin a bunch of times and had nothing but good things to say about it, which is why he suggested it. He said the food scene is awesome, there are a ton of cool bars and music clubs and best of all, things start up early, lol. One of the reasons I think I decided against Vegas is that he said all the times he's been, the bars/clubs don't get busy until midnight. No thanks! I'm usually asleep by 10pm lol.

I totally get it. I'm out earlier in the day,97% of the time. I go to rugby/soccer matches at 9am. I am not going to be out at 11pm to party. I had a DJ friend that hosted a party that started at midnight. I just laughed.
OMG spindle92 One of my cats pooped outside the litter box this morning, and I thought that was bad. But at least it was easy to clean up!
Win: I have coffee.
Whine: I'm not adjusting well to my CPAP machine. It's obvious that it's working, but every time it increases the flow to keep me breathing, I wake up. And I can't roll over anymore because that cuts off the air supply hose on the mask, which increases the airflow which wakes me up. It's all super annoying, and I really just want a good night's sleep so I'm not falling asleep during the day.
Whine: I have to make gluten free cupcakes for a coworker tonight. His last day is Friday. I thought If I never made another cupcake for a long while I would be okay after my bake-a-thon last Thursday. I’m trying to make these ones as easy as possible on myself - vanilla cake and chocolate frosting.
I will continue to be horrified by that story all day spindle92

It took a bit for my H to get used to it. He rolls over and can sleep on either side.. I didn't realize it until recently when he stole my half of the bed! I hope you can get used to it and sleep.
Win: One of the jobs I applied for when freaking out last Tuesday called me yesterday to schedule an interview. It's the one I'm most interested in, too!
Whine: I'm going to have to use a sick day to go to the interview because the only times they had were during a meeting I need to be attending at work. So no doctor's appointment excuse, I'll just be fake sick and then maybe skip my allergy meds the next day to make it more convincing.
And holy hell, spindle92, that story is bizarre and terrible.
doglove congratulations!!! You definitely have the best win! <3
Wins: I haven’t been to my office in 3 days and it’s been glorious!
We did two full days of suicide prevention training at DS’s school. I love being able to get out to do that. My partner in crime is my kids’ therapist and she is seriously the best. And she bought me coffee both days!
I’m starting to pack for Mexico. I think that’s what is keeping me sane during this insanely snowy February.
A coworker asked me and R to join his trivia team tomorrow night. I’m excited to see if I know anything.
Whines: we’ve had OVER 50 inches of snow in February. It’s a seriously cluster. And I’m over it...sooooo over it!!! Also, have I mentioned more snow is coming this weekend??
