I'm almost at the end of this book, and I'm in the market for something else similar. Recommendations?
I read this series out of order, so I've already finished Anna and Isla, and Lola is unquestionably my favorite of the three. She seems . . . smarter? less naive? more grounded? than either Anna or Isla, and therefore more relatable for me. To the extent that any high school romance story is relatable for a 40 year old. LOL.
I used to read a lot of this genre, and really liked Sarah Dessen back then, but I've read most of her books already. I also really like how Lola is pretty light, and there really aren't any darker/heavier themes here. I'm in the market for more fluffy, flirty, fun sort of reads, I guess. I recently read a NA book that involved some abusive stuff that was WAY too much for me, and I'm trying to get away from that kind of thing.

I really liked Gayle Forman's books. She has two duos that I enjoyed: Just One Day/Just One Year and If I Stay/Where She Went. Just One Day/Year is a little lighter. If I Stay is pretty heavy but they're both good.
One of my favorite quotes ever is from Just One Year. "I'm not sure it's possible to simultaneously love something and keep it safe. Loving someone is such an inherently dangerous act. And yet, love, that's where safety lives."

If you want more of a cast of characters, which I feel like you get with Anna and Lola if I can remember correctly, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series is good too.
If you want the traveling/being abroad aspect, there's 13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson.
You could try Colleen Hoover. Slammed, Maybe Someday, Confess, Ugly Love, November 9. I would stay away from Hopeless, It Ends With Us and All Your Perfects if you want to stay away from heavy.
