We belong to a fitness center that has ties to a university medical system and offers wellness programs that are really excellent. They’re now offering a program that includes metabolic testing, RD consultations, personal trainer support and ongoing coaching, to improve fitness and help with weight loss. It’s $750 for 8-10 weeks and dh and I are interested in signing up.
But... the person in charge of registrations for the program is utterly unresponsive. I called five times and left multiple messages before calling and being given another person’s contact info. I emailed, and eventually got a call back from the person in charge, who gave me the information I needed.
Now we are trying to get started and it’s the same thing. I’ve called repeatedly, left messages, sent emails, and this morning, dh and I actually went in and asked if we could register. The front desk called up but.. the woman in charge was there but not able/willing to come down.
it’s $1500 worth of program fees. And I don’t entirely trust this woman to run things well. But I want to do the program.
WWYD? We can sign up anyway despite this rough start, look elsewhere for a similar program (any ideas?), sign up for the different aspects of the program with the different providers (for example, we could reach out to the dieticians for appointments separate from the program), or just try to do it ourselves.
I guess I am looking for encouragement in one direction or another. If metabolic testing, a personal trainer, or an RD consult has helped you (or not), please encourage me. Thanks.
That's a lot of money for someone to be so unresponsive. Is there someone else you can contact about it? Maybe their supervisor? Because it sounds like a good program. If they're it, and they're the one in charge of organizing the program, I would bail and look for something else. Maybe just stick with the trainer at the gym, and look for an RD separately? They should be able to get you the appropriate metabolic testing and everything too.
I’d be afraid that kind of lack of responsiveness is what you’ll need up with when you’re in the program. For me, I need accountability or else it’s a waste Of my time and money.
I just joined something similar through a different gym than the one I use. I got to a regular gym but this is through a crossfit. They are using a national company, and they operate under the registered dietician and provide the personal monitoring and stuff and then I access the company’s app.
Im not paying for 2 gyms, and I’m not paying to access that crossfit. I’m paying for their nutrition program only. That gym is charging 170/month for 3 months and this was the plan (time/money) that 100% of the clients had chosen at that location. The other option was 1 month which isn’t enough, or a higher option which is more face to face.
I’ll meet in person once a Month and get my body scan stuff. I met once, had my first scan, we set goals, I found out my calories and macro breakdown. He gave me a template for groceries and menu selections. Plus a lot of advice. I will enter my food into MFP and he can view it, we’ve also friended on MFP. There is an app I now have access to with direct contact to the coach guy, and the group. All my MFP syncs right to their app.
I had the body scan stuff and found out my body fat and muscle mass something whatever. I’ll meet him again 3 more times to redo it.
Basically it’s just what I needed. For a total of $500. I already strength train on my own at my gym by using New Rules of Lifting for Women.
I’ll pm you the name of the company. My understanding is that it’s nationwide. I feel weird about advertising it on here but if anyone else wants the same, pm me. A lot of crossfit gyms provide the nutrition program to nonmembers (like me) and the company owner of a registered dietician. Plus all of their recipes are free on their website even for non users.
