We are going to Vegas early summer- I haven’t been in 10 years and my husband has never visited. We are both late 30s and are not into the party/club scene. We would like to visit the hotels, some pool time, see a show, and my husband will likely do some gambling (though we both aren’t into it).
Should we do 3N/4D or 4N/5D days? We are coming from East, so the travel there, we would arrive around 10am and the flight home will take all day, so that day is a bust.
Any recs for a hotel? And food? Anything else that are “must do”?

My husband and I went last summer for the 2nd time and enjoyed it so much more than we did the first time we went. (first time we tried to do way too much.) We stayed at the Cosmopolitan with a fountain view balcony room and it was the perfect location. We could watch the Bellagio fountains from our balcony, and could walk across the street to Mon Ami Gabi for breakfast (sooo yummy!) It was an easy taxi or Uber to anywhere from there.
We saw Mystere (a Cirque show) while we were there and it was fabulous. It's one of the older shows, but it was so good! We went to KA (another Cirque show) the first time we went several years ago, and I thought Mystere was much better.
We were coming from the East too, so I think 3 or 4 nights would both be fine. 3 is really all you need to do Vegas, but with the long flight and the time change, it would probably be nice to have that extra night and not feel rushed the days you are there. You could take a day and get off the Strip. It will be hot for hiking, but there is a lot of beauty around Vegas.
On our first trip, we took a day and went to the Hoover Dam and another day and took a small plane trip to the Grand Canyon. I'm glad we did, but it was too much to try to pack into one trip.
I'm a price-driven traveler but I highly recommend the Vdara. We loved our room (fountain view) and the fact that as a non-smoking, non-casino hotel, we could walk into the lobby and not be overwhelmed by noise and smoke. Also, with the connection to the Bellagio and Park MGM, it makes for easy access to other hotels as well.
I always recommend Aria and Cosmopolitan, if they are in your budget. They are lovely hotels and in a fantastic location. Both also have great pools. Cosmopolitan is full of great restaurants as well.

I love Vdara. The rooms also can have small kitchenettes so you can keep things in your room. I used to do a lot of work in Vegas and stayed there everytime. Some of the rooms also have fountain views.
I love the shows, I enjoyed Love, Jabbawockeez, I didn’t care for O, for a cirque show on water it was very slow. If you have a dirty sense of humor Absinthe is a funny burlesque show with amazing trapeze and talented people.
I don’t gamble, I enjoy Vegas for the shows and food. Also please try the “Birthday cake” at Momofuku’s Milk bar. It is amazing.
