I invited the family of my son's friend over for dinner and playdate.
I don't know what to serve for dinner. I was thinking burgers, tater tots, roasted veggies and mac and cheese. Might be too much work for a Friday night.
Does anyone have any easy kid friendly ideas? Mine are 4 and 9 months theirs are 4 and 7.
Also thinking I should provide wine and beer?
They are bring cheesecake and cookies for dessert.
Typically we do pizza. You can get frozen or from a pizza place. You could ask them what they like to eat?
As a mom, I would appreciate wine and beer if you have it. I don't expect it or offer it on a playdate, but I do for whole family get togethers especially on weekend evenings.
A family sized lasagna and salad or make a big pot of spaghetti and do green salad or fruit salad. Our friends do this most times we do dinner/playdate and it is a hit with both families and I normally get a bowl of spaghetti sauce sent home as leftovers (win/win).
My go to for hosting with kids is taco bar. I cook the beef and providing toppings (usually soft tortillas, shredded cheese, pico de gallo, sour cream, guac, tomatoes, and shredded lettuce for those wanting salad). The only thing to cook is the meat while everything else can be dumped into a bowl and placed on a table.
We invite people over so DH can cook. If it's not a kid friendly meal, we'll make a separate meal (mac n cheese) for the kids. We put on a movie for the kids during dinner and serve them in a separate room so that the adults can get a quiet(ish) meal (that lasts about 15-30 mins usually).
I think hamburgers, tots, and a veggie tray is plenty. I think it would be awesome to provide wine and beer. Here BYOB is implied in all invitations. #regional
