Travel to Turkey

Has anyone seen any changes in what's going on in traveling to Turkey?  A good friend of mine who lives in Istanbul has invited DH and I to her summer house on the Aegean this summer.  It seems like things have simmered down from a few years ago, and I'd really like to go.

Personally, I would not. I've written about some of the horrors of their leader so I could get in trouble there. You'd probably be safe but there is so much going on there.
