Hi all, I’m new 😊 I’m 9w3d. My RE had me wean off the meds over the last week or so. I did my last PIO injection last Tuesday, dropped way down on Estradiol (due to stop tonight), and took my last progesterone suppository this morning.
I felt very nervous about going off the meds, so she had me do a blood draw today to check the P4 levels. Last Monday it was 37.5 and today it is 21.5. She said it needs to be above 20 so she wants me to go on Prometrium for the next few weeks. Hopefully I can pick up tonight.
I’m not sure exactly what I’m looking for here, I’m just really concerned about the potential effects of such a drastic drop. She is going to do an ultrasound on Thursday so hopefully we will see that everything is fine. Although I hate having so much anxiety, I am glad that I spoke up and got the monitoring - I hope it’s not too late to course correct!
Good luck! I think I remember that your placenta takes over making progesterone around 11ish weeks. During my first pregnancy I had an issue with my crinone and had to stop at 11 weeks rather than 12, and that’s what the office reassured me with.

CCRM told me last week that they’ve started weaning at 9 weeks. One of the doctors did a study and found that the placenta actually takes over around 8 weeks. I was a little surprised, but they reassured me that they started this practice 2 years ago and haven’t had an issue yet.
My Re had me wean at 10 weeks last time and my current RE said I'll wean around 9-10 weeks this time because that's around when the placenta takes over the progesterone supply.
I weaned completely off at 10 weeks. I can't say whether my P4 dropped after weaning and how quickly because it was never tested, but it seems like a good sign that it was still above 20.
I also weaned at 9 weeks, my RE said the same as everyone else, that the placenta takes over at 9 weeks. My RE didn’t even check progesterone levels after we stopped.

I hope you got some reassurance!
I'll add that my RE also told us that the placenta takes over at 9 weeks and I want to say I also remember a nurse telling me a dip was normal because it's the placenta making progesterone vs all the supplements (I was on PIO and Endometrin).

Thank you! We had a scan yesterday and everything looks great. My RE told me a dip is normal as well - I just wish she had told me that before as opposed to after, lol.
