Update: I saw a specialist today he believes it’s IT Band causing issue not bursitis. Recommend physical therapy for 4 weeks.
Anyone ever have it? How long did it take to go away? Did it reoccur? Any tips for a faster recovery?
My primary care recommended rest and icing which I have been doing for 3 days and not only is it not clearing up I think it’s gett worse. Doctor gave me a referral to an orthopedic specialist and I have an appointment on Monday. Just looking for experiences and what I can do in the mean time.

I had a friend with hip bursitis and I remember her taking off like 6 weeks of running. So 3 days doesn't sound like much time to expect improvement. Rest and Ice in the meantime before you see the orthopedist. Sorry!

I had it in my knee and shoulder. Both ended up requiring cortisone shots, which solved the problem for me, but because cortisone shots have their downsides they were a last resort after several months of pain. It's really fucking annoying, and you have my sympathy.

I had it in my shoulder and I waited too long to get it treated. Cortisone shots helped, but only for a few hours. Eventually I had surgery and it made a huge difference. So get it treated!!
Gah you guys, these are not the feel good stories I was looking for, lol. Thanks for sharing your experiences, hopefully a little R & R helps and surgery won’t be needed.
