We’ve decided to head south on the last leg of our mostly Switzerland trip. We’ll be coming from the Ticino area near Lugano. Where have you gone and where would you go that had great beaches that won’t be a super haul back to Zurich to fly home?
We’re ok with that amount of driving and know it’s going to be a full travel day back to Zurich, we just didn’t want to go too far south and make it longer. We’re staying 6 nights near the lake near Lugano before heading this way for 3 nights, so Lake Como doesn’t feel that different. The boys want to see the sea ;-)

We loved Cinque Terre. Looks like it’s about 3.5/4 hours from Lugano, or almost six back to Zurich. But it was gorgeous and I loved that we could hike between the towns, and compare each beach.
How are the beaches in cinque terre? My boys are fishes theses days and that’s a prime draw.
We went to several beaches between Rome and northern Italy and beaches are not great there. It’s more about the hiking, food, and scenery in that area of Italy. We did swim one day but I wouldn’t go there to swim.

I thought the beaches were fine there. Some are rocky so they’re not for sunbathing but the water was perfect. DD loved finding small sea creatures in the tide pools and we spent hours swimming. I’d say they were typical Mediterranean beaches.
