My skincare routine is pretty basic on the whole. I wash my face in the shower, and use a Clarisonic Mia 2 a couple times a week. I moisturize/SPF my face with Olay from Costco (have used Aveeno in the past). I'm not looking for anything fancy. I've used Neutrogena and No7 in the past and was happy, but since I'm pushing 40, I'd like something a little more for keeping away fine lines and toning down discoloration/redness. I have been to a dermatologist and she said I have 'sebaceous' skin (on the oily side) with a bit of rosacea, though I dry out easily. I am sensitive to scents and harsher cleansers.
Do you have a favorite? I have both Sephora and Ulta locally, so I'm happy to go there, but am happy with Target as well.
I also use Cereve and like it. My fancy option is the Drunk Elephant bar soaps. One is the Pekee and one is the Juju and I’m not sure which is which, but I’d guess that whatever one is the white one would be the better choice for you.
I use Cerave--it keeps your skin at its ideal pH. I use the version for dry skin in winter and the version for oily skin in summer. I remove my makeup first with Clinique Take the Day Off, which is also very moisturizing. Then I wash my face in the shower with the Cerave.
I have changed up my entire evening skin routine though now that I am going to turning 40 next year.
I first remove my make-up with a Micellar Cleansing Water. Then I wash for 60 seconds with the Cetaphil. A few times a week I do a switch up with a few different types of exfoliates (clay, scrub, pull off). Then I do serums. I switch it up each night. Then I moisturize. So far my face has shown signs of improvement. I do have sensitive skin and noticed a lot of discoloration. I have found that buying samples and seeing which one is going to jive with skin helps. I also get two beauty boxes that usually have some skin care in it. So far my face hasn't reacted badly.
Well, my previous HG foaming cleanser is no longer made....not that I'm bitter or anything. so I've been trying new facial cleansers for my 2nd step. The DE pekee bar is nice, but it's a bar. I hear the Neutrogena naturals cleanser is also good. I tend to stick with a lower Ph cleanser, since I have dry, sensitive skin and a lot of the foaming cleansers with higher Ph don't play well.
If you have a Trader Joe’s, this is where I always plug their nourish face wash. It’s cheap and despite often being a product junkie I always go back to. It cleans without stripping, it foams with drying. It’s my true love lol.
I’ve tried cetaphil and cerave and even with double cleaning I swear stuff never completely cleans off. They just don’t work for me.
I also use Cereve and like it. My fancy option is the Drunk Elephant bar soaps. One is the Pekee and one is the Juju and I’m not sure which is which, but I’d guess that whatever one is the white one would be the better choice for you.
I also use these and love them.
They have a travel sized duo that's reasonably priced that would be good to try them out.
