What have you read this past week? What are you currently reading?
QOTW: If you could have a signed first edition of any book, which book would you choose? (don't choose based on monetary value! pick a book/author you really love)
I have like 2% left of Daughter of Molokai. It started strong, and is still a 4 star, but I did t finish the last 3 minutes yet...Molokai was one of my top 5, but it’s been years since I’ve read it.
QOTW- good question!!! I might have go with Harry Potter and not for monetary value!!
Forgot to post last week, so in the past TWO weeks I have read:
A Ladder to the Sky by John Boyne 5 stars/fiction GO READ THIS BOOK!!!!
Before She Knew Him by Peter Swanson 3 stars/psychological thriller Sadly not nearly as good as this author's other book I have read and loved: "The Kind Worth Killing"
This Scot of Mine by Sophie Jordan 2 stars/historical romance The book didn't have a plot. I only gave it 2 stars because at least the writing wasn't terrible.
Immortal Fire (Red Winter Trilogy, #3) by Annette Marie 4 stars/YA fantasy-esque You really should look into picking up this series! It's focused on Japanese mythology and has a little romance with a kitsune, need I say more?
Star Witch (The Lazy Girl's Guide To Magic #2) by Helen Harper 3.5 stars/paranormal romance Cute, funny book. Good for a light read.
Fortuna (The Twelve Systems Chronicles, #4) by E.G. Manetti 4 stars/sci-fi-ish romance I'm kind of obsessed with this series but I don't necessarily recommend it because I think most people wouldn't like it
Total so far for the year: 38
QOTW: "Rena's Promise: A Story of Sisters in Auschwitz" by Rena Kornreich Gelissen. Rena was incredibly brave and resilient and I would love to have a signed copy of her book!
I finished The Witch Elm by Tana French, 4* and The Heavens May Fall by Allen Eskens, 4*. There were some unbelievable parts of Eskens' book, but it was good and his quick, easy read was just what I needed after reading The Witch Elm. While I enjoyed The Witch Elm, it was a very, very slow read. I started There There by Tommy Orange.

Nine Continents: A Memoir in and Out of China by Xiaolu Guo- 4
Beastie Boys Book by Michael Diamond and Adam Horovitz- 5. I read it and there are lots of pictures to see, but apparently the audiobook is excellent also and is narrated by Ad-rock and Mike D (with some guests)
Things Not Seen by Andrew Clements - YA (people were talking about this book on reddit and I was curious) 3
Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood and Persepolis 2: The Story of a Return by Marjane Satrapi- 4 and 3.5, respectively.
I finished The Grid: The Fraying Wires Between Americans and Our Energy Future by Gretchen Bakke (interesting and academic). I’m now reading The Uninhabitable Earth - Life After Warming by David Wallace-Wells (it’s a doozy, there is no sugar coating here) and Tweak by Nic Sheff (about drug addiction/recovery).
I started a lot of books but couldn’t get into them. Finished
What I Hate From A-Z by Roz Chast Nobody Cares by Anne T. Donahue The Mothers by Brit Bennett
Nothing really stood out.
Now I’m reading My Oxford Year by Julia Whelan. I remember her from being the daughter in Once and Again so I picked it up. It’s apparently a best seller in Germany? It’s okay but more of a romance than expected.
QOTW: maybe an Agatha Christie? Or Beverly Clearly? I don’t really have favorite books.

Pretty good reading week, trying out suggestions from my other thread.
Finished The Wedding Date, need to join the thread for that.
Read about 18% of I'll Be Gone in the Dark. I'm going to run out of time on thr loan so I'll try it again another time. I'm surprised that I don't like it more since I love true crime.
Started "When", and will start Children of Blood and Bone.
QOTW: Probably Star Girl as I've read that a couple of times and love Jerry Spinelli, or maybe A Walk to Remember.

I'm currently reading King of Scars. I love the Grishaverse but I think I'm mixing up stuff that happened in Throne of Glass and Children of Blood and Bone with this series.
QOTW: I'm weird about autographs. I get that they are worth something but to me, they aren't worth anything. I just don't get them. Sorry to be THAT person.
Finally finished Beartown. It was ok, I don’t get the hype. It was just very disjointed and then at the end seemed rushed.
Just finished Untouchable, which was #3 in the Cutler, Sutter, and Salinas trilogy. It was a good ending to the trilogy. Solid 3 stars.
QOTW: I read the original Wedding Date when it was Asking for Trouble and loved the book. It’s a regular re-read for me. So I would love a signed copy.
I read About Alice by Calvin Trillin. It was such a sweet book.
Tomorrow I will start Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi.
QOTW: no question, Alice Munro. Alas, I doubt she will ever do a book tour again (has she ever?). But to me, she is the greatest living author in English.
ETA: Oops, I forgot to say which book. Maybe Friend of My Youth.

I've started a reread of Good Omens because I wanted something light to take with me to conference earlier this week. I've also started Michelle Obama's book and am about 10% into that. I like it so far. It's amazing the things she can recall from childhood!
QOTW: Either a first edition hardback of Outlander by Diana Gabaldon or one of Neil Gaiman's books, most likely. I have a signed DG book but not Outlander.
This week I read Among the Barons by Margaret Peterson Haddix (I read the first one in the series to my class and have been making my way through the rest of the series when I get a chance). I am in the middle of I'll Be Gone in the Dark but I haven't finished it yet.
I would love a signed copy of Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret.

1- Just added A Ladder to the Sky to my want to read list! Thank you! Looks great! 2 - Before she knew him. Agreed. I loved loved loved A Kind Worth Killing, this fell short for me
