Carry on/ Personal Item bags

I'm doing a quick weekend getaway at the end of the month. Our tickets only include a personal item (carry ons are additional). I need a nice weekender type bag that will pass as a personal item. What do you guys like? I'd like to stay around $50, but if it's an awesome bag I could go up to $100.

I have this, from Lands End. I can pack for a week in it, easily.

I use a backpack, Osprey brand. We just did a three-day trip in February under the same circumstances (PO-only) and it worked great.

We did a San Diego weekend with backpacks - just regular ones, not the huge hiking ones. (but also were packing small/light clothes)

I like the Vera Bradley weekender bag. You could probably find one on ebay for less than $100. They come in solid colors too.

The Ebags mother lode I think would work. Or the weekender. I always forget which is which.
