Vent. DS is still coughing. DH refused to take him to the doctor all weekend - they were together all weekend for a youth hunting season.
Celebrate - I scored some cute things at TJ Maxx this weekend for Easter, graduation, and the track. DD didn't have as much luck there, but she got a bathing suit which she loves. I found a beautiful suit at Target, except it was too big. I had them order it in 2 sizes, so I hope one fits and I will take the other one back.
Another crazy week at work. Along with all of my other duties, I am on the accreditation team. I am glad to be included, and am working with our director, but I wish I could have put it off a couple of weeks until my class is over. My grant letter of intent was approved, now I have the write the thing. Thankfully it is not due until May 10 which will give me 2 weeks after classes finish, and will be finished before I have to take off for DD's class trip.
First day back to work after being off since 3/29 for spring break. I blocked the day to catch up on emails and things. I just made it through my first review of emails (delete, file, flag for response or work). Now I need to go back and start working through all the ones that require some sort of action.
DH has an interview today from 10-5 for a director of finance job at the insurance company that is a subsidiary company of the company I work for. It would be a pay cut and cut to his retirement (he gets pretty good profit sharing into his 401k plus regular employer matching at his current company), but a promotion in title, so we'll have to weigh the pros and cons if he gets an offer. He's supposed to hear about his job (if his position will be eliminated) the week of April 29. It would be great if he would find out about his job before getting an offer for another job, but I think he'll find out about the job he's interviewing for before finding out about his current job.
We had a great spring break. The kids enjoyed NYC and Gettysburg, although it was a busy/active spring break. I'm so glad we splurged for tickets to The Lion King on Broadway - that was my and DS's favorite thing we did in NYC. (DD's favorite was going to the American Girl store on 5th Ave.) It was also great to spend time with my aunt and uncle (they are probably the aunt and uncle I'm closest to relationship-wise, and unfortunately they are the farthest away).
Random - I looked at my 403b account this morning, and I finally hit 6 figures. I know I'm probably behind where I should be for retirement (I've been working about 15 years now, post-college), but it still feels like I hit a milestone with getting to six figures.
Vent: I’m on an airplane and stuck next to someone who doesn’t understand the concept of headphones. And she’s encroached over the arm rest and into my personal space.
I mean I basically hate all people, so a plane is the worst place for someone like me.
DD is annoyed that it’s spring break and she doesn’t get to do anything fun.

Vents: It was a long weekend. I got a lot done around the house and errands wise, but I do not feel rested. That is most likely because I was up coughing from about 1am-2:30am. I could not stop and I am pretty sure that is the reason behind my headache this morning.
Celebrations: Environment testing for my building should be lined up this week. DD is started to STTN, or at least wake up and put herself back to sleep within 10-20 minutes. I am hopefully going back to the gym after almost 2 weeks today and I cannot freaking wait for my muscles to hurt!!!!
Today is a very Monday Monday. It’s cold and rainy, and no one wanted to get up. DD1 had an ultrasound at 730am, which threw her into a little bit of an anxiety loop. (When will I eat breakfast? What if I’m late for school? It’s raining - what will we do??)
Dropped her off (on time) and headed to the grocery store. On my way, I got behind someone going 20 in a 30 mph zone. I was about 1-1.5 car lengths behind him. He starts swerving and puts on his hazards, and slows down. So I slow down. I was going to pull over just to make sure he was ok... and he slams on his brakes and flips me off. Oookay... then he speeds up to get away from me, and slams on the brakes again, swerving and shaking his fist at me the whole time. Um... sorry I drove on your street dude? Misplaced anger much? That guy was totally having a Monday.
I worked out this morning! I was super nervous. Heart rate was annoyingly high (up to 194) so during the weighted part of partner exercises I was mostly sitting to bring down my heart rate. Still burned 626 calories. Felt like I was going to actually throw up several times but overall anxiety is so much lower when I work out...Cardiologist scheduled for early May.
Spent the weekend organizing. Girls were camping. I missed them but really needed the break. Didn’t drive down to see my mom. No regrets.
Found my Easter dress (white, lace trim, wearing on the shoulder but could be worn off) and ordered a coral thread and blue bead tassel to tie me to the kids at a local boutique - dress was a steal for $36. So happy.
I had a “routine” eye exam scheduled this morning. Unfortunately they see something weird in my eye that may be a very quickly developing cataract or may be something else they aren’t naming. They’ve done three extra tests and now I’m waiting for a surgeon to come take a look.
So I may be having cataract surgery in one eye. And it appears that is “best case scenario.”
This afternoon I get to go pay my taxes. I think we are getting a refund, but then I thought I was having a routine eye exam this morning, so now my anxiety is basically at a 35 on a 10 point scale.
@monmyatty - that is how DH’s eye debacle began!! He ended up having no issues. Got second and third opinion. Fingers crossed that’s the same for you - I swear someone else here had the same experience too.
I definitely have something going on. My vision in one eye has gotten TERRIBLE. It’s gotten so much worse in a year that the tech asked if I’d been in a car accident or something this year.
All the stuff came back as definitely a cataract. No idea why it’s only in one eye. No idea why it went from “minor juvenile cataract” to “holy cow that thing is terrible” in a year. But it can be easily fixed.

Today is a laundry and errands day. My flight was an hour behind last night so I didn't get home until 11pm. I'm glad my coworker talked me into taking today off. I stayed in bed for a while and am catching up on the DVR. As much as I miss DS, it is nice having days like this where I'm just responsible for myself.
FWP vent: I left 90s and sun yesterday to come home to 50s and gray.
I’m in the ER. DH left work to take DS to his appointment for his ankle. My heart rate was in the 30s and my doctor told me to go and not take DS to his appointment. Normal EKG, waiting on other tests. Heart rate has been 42-160 since getting here. Really hope they can just give me an answer.
2chatter , hope you are OK. mommyatty - hope all goes well if it is a cataract. I know tons of people that had that surgery and it's very quick and they correct your vision.
Vent- My mom posted a weird meme about asking for help on FB basically shaming me for asking her for help (long backstory), but thanks for the shaming. I figured out she was competing with me on stress. Yes she is caring for someone, but they are in a home. It's not the same as being a working mom with sole responsibility during the week of 2 kids. Sorry not the same, and not everything has to be a competition.
I was super stressing the grand jury duty this weekend, so I get it I was annoying the crap out of everyone. And freaking out etc.
Celebration- So I went to jury duty. They only really wanted to select those that it wouldn't implode their life, so they rejected me when I said I had sole responsibility of the kids all week and am working. If I had been selected in the core group it would have been Mon-Fri for 5 weeks basically from now until May 10th I think. Holy crap. That was why I was stressing. They brought in like 80-90 people and selected 18 core group and 12 alternates to fill in schedule wise for a total of 30. I am amazed that I got off after everyone telling me here that they don't give a crap about kids etc.
It's still raining. What clients I've actually talk to today are concerned by the rain and flooding. One person was told to be on standby just in case. We got 2.5 inches yesterday and one client this morning told me he watched the Mckenzie rise 9ft yesterday and called to double check his flood coverage. Not only is flooding an issue but mudslides are happening and they seem extra dangerous due to all the down trees we got from the big snow in February. We sure have had a wild weather year so far.
