Left: 32 weeks. first pregnancy. I'm happy, put together, and I think this was probably a couple of days before my last day of work. Right: 31 weeks and change, second pregnancy. I'm all dishevelled, ginormous despite a measuring smaller on both fundal and ultrasound.
ETA: Just got back from my 32w OB visit and growth scan. Measuring 32+3 and approx 4 lb. 5 oz., and head down! That makes it all feel a little more real!
woowoo, the wife of one of my partners at work just had their first baby. She's an orthodontist, and he said her practice just let her wear scrubs all the time as soon as she got uncomfortable. Between that, how much bigger I am finding STM-pregnancy to be than my FTM-pregnancy, and the fact that she is like 6-7" taller than me, I basically hated her temporarily. I saw her when she was 36w and I was 26w. She was already almost done and had this adorable little Meghan Markle bump, comfy clothes, and here I was with this ponderous bulge, business appropriate shoes, and 3+ months left to do it at the time...

woowoo you look soo good! I hear you on clothes. I didn’t have to do it this time around, but the first time I had to be in strict business clothes the entire time and even had court appearances during the last month. I hated all those clothes so much. Can you do mostly dresses and blazers? For me dresses help a ton. That’s what I did this time around.
Susie, and lovelyshoes, thanks for the kind words. I have been wearing mostly dresses and blazers, but I had PT/Chiro apt this morning and am more comfortable at those apts wearing pants.
I also don't understand why maternity clothes designers think all we want to wear is polka dots. What is WITH all the polka dots??

I don't know, I was feeling that way about horizontally striped shirts. Like all my t-shirts are striped. As if I don't look big enough on my own, we need to emphasize it!?

Susie, you look AMAZING, but I hear you about the stripes!!! I'm also convinced designers assume all pregnant women stay home all day. The sheer lack of quality work maternity clothes is crazy to me too. I did buy a few key pieces at Pea in the Pod, Loft and Serafine and they are getting me through.
What did you wear while still pumping and back at work?? Nonstop wrap dresses?

I found pants and a regular shirt to be easiest. I just pulled the shirt up while I pumped (I found it easier to pull up my shirts than down when nursing/pumping. If I needed to not expose my stomach I just wore a tank underneath).

The pants are the worst for me. They all dig in, I was so uncomfortable so I gave up. All shirts are so cheaply made too. This is def an untapped market. Also, everything is so form fitting. I want something loose, I don’t need everything to be super tight.

This really shows how different we all are and how there needs to be a bigger selection of maternity wear in general. I seem to only find the loose flowy shirts and tops and I’m desperately looking for more form fitting shirts (they seem to only be available as plain black or white t-shirts or possibly navy with polka dots or stripes) Whenever I wear something looser I just feel big and shapeless, like I’m just fat. But with a form fitting shirt you can see a defined baby bump and I feel much cuter. (I wear big loose scrubs for work and my coworkers say I’m not even showing yet - then they see me in my private clothes and it’s very obvious (see pic above))
I wish there would be a bigger selection available with both loose and form fitting and that it was available in store so you could actually try it on.

So true, I’m a neutrals girl though so maybe that’s why. I meant more so about dresses. I just can’t deal ugh tight ones for work. I also get really itchy, sorry tmi, so I need natural fibers. Check out gap if you form fitting tops

Pretty much. My favorites were from Maggy London and Ann Taylor because they made some that were a little flowy-er, with more of an A-line skirt and/or some biased gathering across the belly that helped conceal the fact that it took me a while to lose the baby weight. (I didn't lose ALL of it for about 1.5 year, the last 10 lb. hung until I weaned, and it took me about 6 months after that to fully lose all of it.) As an added benefit, they tended to be machine wash (good when dealing with milk all the time), came in prints that hid any drips better than solids, were flexible as my size/shape changed, and made for easy one-step dressing that didn't require me to coordinate anything in the morning when I was too tired. I tried plenty of wrap dresses that were cut too straight and narrow though, and those all went back.
I also wore pants layered with nursing tank + shirt, but since my size was such a moving target and wrap dresses were more flexible than pants, they were just easier and required less interim size shopping.
