Thank you for picking up the slack when I travel. It makes my life so much easier. But when I’m home, it would help if you got more organized about all the kid stuff going on and if you did what I asked you to do. I think there’s a thing in our attic. We have a lifetime warranty from the people who dealt with the raccoon. All you need to do is get them out there to TAKE CARE OF IT.
Also, clean up all your shit from our bedroom. You don’t need hundreds of pairs of running shoes and multiple drawers of socks. I’m ready to divorce you over this.
Signed, Wife Who Hates Hoarding More Than She Loves You
Dear system, I feel like you're failing my kid. Just because she's academically ahead of her peers (in first grade, so let's be real, that doesn't mean a ton) she doesn't get an ADHD diagnosis. I know my kid. I see how hard she struggles. I have two of the exact same child in my home for an A/B comparison, FFS. But sure, no diagnosis because things are "inconsistent." AKA her grades are fine so there's no issue. I don't want a label for the sake of a label. I don't even want her on any meds! I just want help giving my kid the tools she needs to not be frustrated with herself. It's only going to get worse when the stakes get higher in school. Signed, Heartbroken Mom
I don't like you. Your dog is outside my window barking again. I am calling the pound.
Dear DS,
You get up with your horrendous hacking cough, see me on the couch (due to the dog), so you go downstairs, LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN, and continue to keep me up the rest of the entire night.
Signed, is 40+ too late to run away from home?
Dear Walmart Grocery pickup,
I use you to make my life easier. My life wasn't very easy this morning when I go to put things in the crockpot and realize, you left off part of my order.
WPs Would it be weird to hire one of my cleaning service clients next winter? I've used other clients for services and have had no issues. Thinking Ahead
DD I know you don't want to go to school anymore. I get it you are bored to death plus you have a sub all week. I really don't know what to do. You still have 10 more weeks of school. I'll try and have a conference with your teacher next week to make a game plan for the rest of the year. Mom
You were not a good employee. I gave you poor reviews. I layered you, and other managers gave you poor reviews. We couldn’t let you go, because a poor-to-mediocre employee was better than no employee, and we wouldn’t have been able to replace you.
So why have you continued to use me as a reference?? If you had asked, I would have told you that I wasn’t the best person to act as a reference. I don’t feel comfortable lying or vouching for you. STOP USING ME.
Sincerely, The Ex-Management
Dear Interviewers -
I liked you! I think I would like working with you! I’m nervous about going back to work, but this seems like a nice place. So... how about you hire me? 😀

186momx, I say hire your clients. At least you know something about them ahead of time. And if it doesn't work out, you can always give the excuse that you're cutting back on expenses.

Dear Professor -
Why are you raising a specific point in my dissertation as problematic like it is the first time you have seen said point? It is covered in detail in the previous chapter, which you already approved. I am now one month out and you are asking me to remove it. Which means I need to rewrite part of chapter 5 and apparently a chunk of chapter 4. Meanwhile another professor is leaving for Central Asia for the entire summer and seriously jacking up my available time to complete. To say I am stressed is an understatement.

Dear Race Directors,
SOooooo I missed the swim leg of my October 70.3 triathlon b/c of flooding, now I missed the run part of Sunday's 70.3 due to horrible storms. The discount you're giving me is nice but I'm getting a nervous about signing up for any more time commitments.
Signed, Very very disappointed
Dear Work, Holy shit. Calm. Down. Be nice to one another. Or at least respectful.
Signed, Caught in the very ugly middle
Dear DH,
When I send you my resume, it's as dramatic as you think it is. Please don't continue to sit on it. Please please proof read it.
Why you gotta sexually harass your colleagues? Did you think it wouldn’t count because it was via personal email address over the weekend? That totally still counts.
I am beyond sad that you got yourself fired. You could have worked here for a long time. You did not have to screw this up.
Signed, Your manager, who now has so much more work to do
Holy crap. Did s/he honestly think it was OK? I wonder what people are thinking when they do stuff like this... sorry you had to deal with it, and will continue to deal with the aftermath.
shakinros, same kind of thing here only comments in person not via e-mail during the workday. And not like explicit more like heinous bitch.
k3am- I love being in NYC and not being a tourist. Also not sure why people use Linked in except H because he has a compulsive need to job hunt apparently.
I don't think I have a letter for today. I'm just looking at how to structure my days now that I have a new department. I don't know how to explain it, but I guess it will come to me.
xctsclrx, I have delegated a lot of it. I guess I am wondering what to keep and what to delegate and how to offload some of the workload of one of them onto the other 2 who aren't doing as much. It's all very much up in the air, but I guess training someone quickly on something is a good idea in case I am on vacation.
twinmomma - DD1 is in the same situation. She’s always been ahead of her peers in most areas in school, and has never had trouble with anything. She reads at a level that is several grades above her current grade. So her teachers pointed out (and in some cases, rode her and ridiculed her for) her disorganization.
We finally decided to get her tested on our own. Your insurance may cover neuropsych testing. We are awaiting results, but based on conversations, we are anticipating ADHD and Executive Functioning issues. The dr that we used made sure to tell me that insurance will cover at least a portion. It might be worth investigating in order to push the school in the right direction. My experience has been that if schools are not forced to take on more work because the kid is functioning (even if struggling), they will avoid it at all costs.
I loved your reaction to learning that a young woman is responsible for creating the algorithm that allowed the first photo of a black hole. See? Girls can do amazing things in science and math.
Proud Mommy
Dear Dr. Bouman:
I hope you know you are a rockstar for little girls who have big dreams of discovering things about space. You are so awesome.
Mom Who Knows Your Mama is SO Proud
Dear NASA:
I’m still pissed about the all woman space walk being called off because there weren’t two medium sized space suits on the effing International Space Station.
mae0111, That's the path we just took. It came back "inconclusive" according to the neuro doctor. We're kind of now stuck with "wait and see if things get worse as school gets harder" which feels like a terrible answer.

twinmomma I am sorry you're having a hard time getting a diagnosis for ADHD for her. I wasnt diagnosed until I was in college because I had gotten good grades in K-12. I hate that so many people have taken advantage of the medication and have made it difficult for those who truly need it.
k3am, waverly, I guess I hadn't realized that LinkedIn was not all that great to use. I'm casually looking for a job - what should I be using instead?
I think if you’re job searching, it’s a tool. It’s a living resume, basically.
And then people are trying to make it FB - connection requests from people I don’t know, reposting articles and inspirational quotes, and people who I haven’t seen or talked to in 5 years who feel the need to send a prewritten message to say “congrats” on a work anniversary. It’s dumb.
I really needed a pick me up, so I thought Lent may be a good time for reflection, peace, etc... My church sent everyone your book to read. I signed up for your daily inspirational emails. I was struggling, but going along. Then yesterday, your video asked for a monthly contribution, so you killed the intention.
Signed, hard to find religion when people are asking for cash.

Make sure your LinkedIn is either 1) up to date and reflective of the position you are looking for with a good photo OR 2) nonexistent or close to it. I have been hiring over the last six months and I totally consider LinkedIn. People that state goals that are not aligned with my opening or have blurry photos, obnoxious posts....totally counting against you. If you don’t have one or it has barely been used, I just assume you are too cool and give you a pass. But still question why you don’t see the value in marketing yourself which is important at my company.

Dear attorney, Thanks for loving me enough to take my husband's family's case even though you are retiring. You're the man they need. I dont eeven care that you scheduled the appointment partially so DH can bring my crap home so you can get rid of your largest file. Signed, I should not be your largest file at age 29 but here we are
Dear Life, Can we just chill for a bit? This year has been a bit much and we are only 3.5 months in. Love, erinshelley
