DDOT - I rearranged the entire downstairs. The playroom yielded a ton of junk. I love how functional the space is now - so relieved.
We will have our first ever garage sale on Saturday as part of our neighborhood garage sale. Can anyone with experience tell me any of the following? 1) how much change do we need? 2) what time should we really start? 3) what time do things really die down? 4) how do you know how to price things like a giant desk or a full size sleigh bed?
I've done a couple garage sales in the last few years.
1) I get $100 in small bills (mostly $1s and $5s, with a few $10s) and around $5 in change.
2) I would plan to start at 8:00, but be ready for some early birds around 7:30.
3) There are usually lulls throughout the day. Usually it's busy at first, then a little slow mid-morning, picks up late morning, afternoons are generally slow, but then there is usually a rush late afternoon (4:00-ish).
4) I price big things so that they sell and I don't' have to move them back. Giant desk, probably $25 (although I'd sell it for more if it is a name brand (e.g., Steelcase) or real wood). Full size bed, probably $50 (maybe a little more if it is real wood or a nice brand name like Ethan Allen). I live in a small city of around 10K people in an MCOL area, but they like a good deal.
So I’m at the cardiologist. There are eight doctors in this practice. I am the only one without Medicare based on check in and check out. Very odd feeling - I feel like I forgot my mom at home.
I’m going in tomorrow to sign papers and set the date for surgery. It’s definitely a cataract, and they don’t know why I got it, but in one year it’s changed my vision from 20/50 to 20/200. Which is crazy! I’m going to try to do it in about 2 weeks.
I hope it goes smoothly! For my mom, she was out super quickly and painlessly for both eyes. I color coded the med table and her bottles and it was easy for her to see “green drops, lunch time”.
And...I sweated through all the extra pads they gave me for the monitor, so left my workout early....then at book club caught a lead on the sideboard and ripped it out of the device. I hope four leads are enough. Unfreakingbelievable. Ugh.
