She doesn’t post much anymore, but jamalynn is also back in Boston for the first time since 2016! Have a blast, ladies!
ETA: In what has my life come to reflection- 3 years ago I was sitting in Athlete’s Village. Today I am following a pantless toddler around, waiting for her to pee. LOL WHY DID I PICK MARATHON MONDAY TO POTTY TRAIN?!
I started laying groundwork at work a couple of weeks ago to be home for today. I haven’t started it yet (recording it) so I can skip some commercials, but excited to follow along!
It has been a wet wet morning here. I'm sadly working today, and downtown Boston is a flood zone (my Dunks was closed because they had 2 inches of standing water!). Here's hoping it dries out a little before runners make their way here!
Also, shellfish26 , my DH last night was all "oh, Mike texted and invited us over for a drink...apparently you know his sister-in-law who is in town? But I told him we had a busy day (true) and would take a rain check." SO SORRY I MISSED YOU!!
Women through 35 minutes and Degefa has broken from the pack, with a 33:58 10k split. Des and Sara are chasing about 100 meters back.
Some serious balls on Degefa to throw in such a big gap early on, particularly on a course profile that is so foreign to her. I love when athletes do this! It makes for such a interesting race to watch.
Thanks guys!! I’m pretty happy with my race. I had a strong and steady first half, but struggled with the heat and hills in the second. The weather definitely ran the gamut today. Freezing in the morning to baking in the sun midway through the race. I only walked up heartbreak hill. Overall I did the best I could and I’m proud of the race I ran today. I finished in 3:36:25 which is about 18 minutes faster than last time.
Oh the coolest part was I saw Jeannie Rice the 70 year old women who broke the world record at Chicago around mile 20. I caught up to her and told her she was amazing. I think she was having a rough race though because I saw her walking a little while later.

You totally got redemption on that course. So proud of you! Congratulations!!

You're incredible! Congratulations on a great race!
Congrats to all the H&Fers who ran! I think we saw almost every season weatherrwise today! We were cheering at our usual spot in Kenmore square and then just past Mass Ave as you come out of the underpass, just before Hereford. If you saw a set of twin boys with rainbow colored umbrellas with neon pink posters, that was us
