So D tried to take the bus into work today. Driver announces he’s only going as far as the circle on mem drive and D will have to walk the rest of the way from the BU bridge. Marathon traffic. He works near Fenway.
It’s the first day of spring break and we’re attempting to make a cake. This was C’s idea. Except he doesn’t want to do all the work. And L asks how much longer every 2 minutes. And it’s got to cool for 2 hours but the frosting we made is only supposed to chill in the fridge for an hour. So our timing is all screwed up and I just want cake!

RockNVoll D was ridiculous. I ended up picking him up from work at MIT. That’s as far as he managed to walk. Patriots day dude! To be fair he had to since it was for training. But I still laugh at him.
Oh and we’re getting solar too! We had to unfreeze our credit so they could run a credit check. We’re leasing. Can’t afford to buy. Too busy saving for a new car for next year.

So great that you can drive now!
We have to buy our solar; our town doesn't allow leasing. When I looked into it before the house was built, I asked how many people in town had solar installations. "I think we're up in the teens now."
Ha! I’m not sure how many in Somerville have them but I’m betting it’s more than teens. We’re a crunchy bunch
LOL that D tried to get into town on Marathon Monday. That was definitely not a well-timed work-from-office day!
There was a woman in my morning meeting who would.not.stop sniffling. It was driving me batty! Just blow your damn nose! The sounds she was making were so gross.
I'm getting quotes for lawn service, a stone patio, solar panels, and probably built ins soon. Wheeee, watch the money fly out the door!
In the past few weeks, we had a $1600 car bill, an almost $900 vet bill, (he's fine, it was just a cleaning but he had SEVEN teeth pulled - brush your dog's teeth everyone!), signed a contract for a new fence, had the second of our two outdoor faucets burst (the first one did last year, and we just turned it off so now we have to fix them), and our dishwasher broke. So I feel you. I'm going back to Scotland for work in June, and we'd planned for everyone to go and extend it. But now I'm going solo, and our vacation will be beers in our backyard while watering the lawn and staring at our new fence and then running the glasses through the new dishwasher.
Oh man, what a bummer 5kcandlesinthewind. I hope you still enjoy Scotland - I love it there!
liveintheville, nice on the solar panels! I need to look into that too. We have several neighbors with them, so you're right that we're a crunchy people lol.
We bought a new car yesterday (a Honda CR-V) and it was such an annoying process even though I did tons of leg work ahead of time and had already negotiated the price. The sales guy tried to severely low ball me on my trade in, and between him legit saying "I'm a nice guy, can't you work with me?" and DH being all "ho hum, I guess that terrible deal works" my pregnancy rage amped up 40 notches and I was not my best self to either of them (but hey, the dealership more than doubled the trade in offer so it worked out lol). I think the guy just wanted the super hangry 8 months pregnant lady out of his dealership and DH now knows he is to pretend he's mute during any future negotiations lol.
Let's hope this one lasts us 12 years like the car I traded in!

More than double? Way to stick to your guns, especially in the face of a condescending jerk! And K better be bowing down to your utter superiority, LOL. I hope you and your new car have a long and happy relationship
P.S. We need to do lunch.
Yes, but the initial trade in offer was so pitiful its not all that impressive (they initially offered $1000, we settled at $2200, which was within the Kelly Blue Book range). And yes, K, while definitely questioning me as I all but stormed out of the dealership, gave me props when it was all over.

@5candlesinthewind oh that’s terrible. What a run of bad luck. My friend once described buying a fence as opening your wallet to give them everything you have and then they demand more. scm1011 gah with the car buying! I can’t believe how much they tried to lowball you. I’m glad K learned from this D isn’t allowed to negotiate either.
I might have slipped him $20 for his campaign. If I could figure out a way to donate without ending up on GOP mailing lists for the rest of my life, I’d throw him a few bucks.
Congrats on the new car, scm1011! I am clinging to my fully paid-for Civic until there’s no possible way to keep it going. Or until Ben no longer fits in the backseat.
Speaking of, he’s had the stomach bug for the last two days. The poor thing is more pathetic than I’ve ever seen him, outside of his surgeries. I have a program starting on Monday, so it would be the worst possible time for me or H to come down with this because if he gets it, I can’t back him up. Pray for us! Hahasob.
