My kid has had a tough time with daycare dropoff since he stayed home from school sick a few days a few weeks ago. Today he was claiming he was sick and started showing his early signs of a moody/defiant spiral. I was zen as a motherfucker and defused it, and I want a damn medal.
Him: "I'm never listening to you and I'm never going to school! *yells incoherently*"
Me, feeding cheerios to the baby: "well you can yell and not listen to me, that's your choice. But those choices have consequences so you will lose things you like, and in the end, you're still going to school."
He just glowered at me and then finished his cereal. I felt like motherfucking Rocky.
I signed up to bring in breakfast tacos for daycare for teacher appreciation week. I’m calling in the order and having DH grab it on his way to drop off the boys. I asked him if he wanted me to order him a taco and he said no. Does not compute. Why on earth would you not want a breakfast taco!?
DH cut his finger pretty bad last night around 9pm. We had just gotten home from DS’s band concert and he was cutting a lime and the lime slipped and the knife sliced the whole side of his finger next to his nail pretty deep. After an hour and a half, we couldn’t get the bleeding to stop so he drove himself to the ER. They couldn’t get it to stop either but glued it and said to leave the bandage on for at least a day. It was a long night and were both exhausted. He was there for 3 hours or more. I’m not sure what we’re supposed to do if it’s still bleeding tomorrow morning.
DS has an appointment with a running specialist/PT tonight for an evaluation. He runs track and cross country and has been having constant leg pain. We thought it was shin splints but now we’re worried about stress fractures.
I feel like crap- congested, slightly sore throat, TIRED. But there's urgent stuff at work, I can't WFH because there's a construction crew working on the bathroom, and I've got a Brownie meeting to run this afternoon, so I'm stocked up on ibuprofen, sudafed, and hand sanitizer. Bed is going to feel so good tonight.
And of course DH is OOT all week, and we've got something out of the house every evening.

Rehome!
Breakfast tacos sound amazing right now.
Right!? And I would have totally ordered a couple for myself if I was the one picking them up. I am seriously so puzzled.
Yesterday was DS’s “friends” birthday party, we rented this baby/toddler play drop in area and it was 15 one or almost one year olds. Lots of chaos, but everyone had fun and no meltdowns (surprisingly). The weather is so nice today, hoping it holds out for tomorrow so we can take DS to the zoo for his birthday.
Today probably a trip to the park and lots of cleaning. We also got DS’s cake smash photos back and I love them. Not loving how I look but DS looks adorable.

I would take hostages for one! I was up till 330 prepping for a fairly casual but super high-visibility presentation I'm giving today and apparently we're out of belvita crackers, so I am hangry and exhausted. A taco sounds so amazing.
I hate when my H has an early flight. He was up at 3 this morning to shower and leave by 3:30, so of course I was up and couldn't get back to sleep. I'm dragging today.
I see my therapist at lunch today and I have a virtual session with my trainer tonight. I'm really looking forward to both.

DS is at school today! He had been home for two weeks. The first week was spring break then last home due to illness. He was ready to go back and see all his friends and play at the school playground. I am ready to spend the day quietly with DD.
My H’s coworker who is on the corporate responsibility management team reached out to him and asked if I’d be interested in a role on their team. It requires a native English speaker and is a Communications Manager role in sustainability. She knows I’m very pregnant and was like “we would make it work if she’s the right person for the job.” I read the job posting and it sounds great and right up my alley. I know I could do an incredible job with it. I’m totally going to customise my resume and put it forward. See what happens.
I need ham like water Like breath, like rain I need ham like mercy From Heaven's gate Sometimes ham salad or casserole or ham that’s free range, all natural I need ham
Screw Monday. No seriously. Monday can just go pound sand right now, I'm having none of this. Sunday was a total washout and poured all day so we did next to nothing. I feel like I got ripped off of a weekend day after we were super productive on Saturday. I want a Sunday do-over.
I've never had a breakfast taco, didn't even realize that they are a thing. I just googled and yeah, super yum. Of course, I'm fasting today and now I'm drooling over breakfast tacos.
I'm annoyed that even though I got my nails done at 2pm yesterday, I woke up this morning with hair imprints in my polish. How were my nails not completely dry when I went to bed 10 hours later!
I finally bought wireless headphones over the weekend. I've been looking at them since September when I upgraded my iPhone, but I hate ear buds, and I really wanted something that goes over the ear, but didn't want to spend $100. I wish sitting at home yesterday lamenting about my lack of headphones and wishing that I could have my old headphones back that came with my Sony Walkman. I decided to go Best Buy and they actually had them! Well, not exactly the same, because they are wireless, but I got a pair that is pretty dang close and the best part is they were only $20. This old lady is happy.
I had never heard of a breakfast taco until now. I googled it and I don’t think I’d like it. If it has ground meat, I’m out. I don’t like the texture.
IMO, a breakfast taco is any kind of taco that you have for breakfast. We usually have leftover tacos for breakfast (with an egg), but breakfast tacos are often egg and potato, with or without meat.
Yesterday I had breakfast tacos with egg, cheese and whatever I could find in the fridge, but no meat, since I don't eat meat.
I can't believe people have never had or heard of a breakfast taco! I guess they are not the most common thing everywhere, but I don't think they are unusual either! What about a breakfast burrito? Even McDonalds has those!
I love basically anything Mexican inspired, and breakfast is no exception.
My weekend was pretty good, it was a nice balance of doing fun stuff and being productive/relaxing. Last night I went to bed feeling like I had done everything I had wanted to over the weekend, which is kind of rare but felt good. I did get to bed way too late though and I'm dragging today. I have a big list of productive work things I want to do but I'm having trouble even getting started on it. I also need to run to Target over lunch and buy mother's day cards and something for my H's birthday. I love working in the suburbs, it's so easy to just pop out during the day or after work and run my errands. Also after years of working either on the outskirts of town or parking a half mile from work, it's nice that my car is parked 20 feet from my building and there are plenty of places to shop within a 5-10 minute drive. It was always hard to do anything on lunch in my previous professional life, but here I actually can!
My one dog drives me nuts. She’s outside being quiet for like 1/2 hr then starts barking the second I’m inside doing something like handling raw chicken.
Then when I go to get her and make her come in she somehow didn’t bother to go to the bathroom so I have to stand there waiting for her. Why doesn’t she go right when she gets outside? Our other dog needs to be carried up and down the steps so it would be nice if this one was easier!

Isn’t this a breakfast wrap? That’s what I’m used to as a breakfast wrap.

Nope. Small corn tortilla, rolled or folded in half and fried, or a soft taco like street tacos.
If the same filing was in a bigger tortilla, like a wrap, it would be a burro.
Where (and when) I grew up, a burrito was one of those little cooked from frozen things you got at the school snack bar or at a convenience store. lol

Lol. I'm not sure what you found. Maybe ground chorizo? Generally speaking, breakfast tacos are eggs and 2-3 other fillings, meat, cheese, beans, potatoes, etc. The ones I got for the teachers are egg, bacon, and cheese or potato, egg, and cheese. You generally top them with some sort of salsa. Corn or flour tortillas are both common.
I feel like they're so customizable that it would be hard not to like a breakfast taco, unless you generally aren't a fan of Mexican/Tex-Mex cuisine.
eta: To add to the earlier post, like a lot of Mexican food, you're utilizing a lot of the same ingredients in different types of food, so the size of the tortilla and the fact that it is just folded in half (as opposed to wrapped like a burrito) is an important distinction.
I stayed up “late” for me watching GoT last night so I’m dragging a bit today.
H is traveling for work until Wednesday so I’m going home at lunch to let the dogs out which he usually does (he works 2 miles from the house). It’s about a 15 - 20 minute drive home for me so more of a commitment, but I’d rather do that than clean up pee when I get home. Plus I left the Lean Cuisines I bought for lunches this week at home so I can kill two birds with one stone this way. It’s gonna be real hard to come back to work, though, lol. My back IS a little sore from gardening Saturday and Sunday. Maybe I need to sit on a heating pad all afternoon...
One plus to H being OOT is that I can order a pizza for dinner from my favorite place that he doesn’t care for.
I did not maintain my cool this morning with the girls, which feel shitty. C is having a really hard time, her coaches have noticed too. I just want to make this all better for her. there is friend drama at school too, so that does not help. I also feel like she is going to cling a big to H and I might get the brunt of things.
Took my OT class, eating now and then taking my mom for her colonoscopy.
One of our customers wants a hard copy and the report on CD mailed to them because it's apparently 1997. My coworker asked me to print and mail them because he's out today. Our printer is so slow. I started printing at 9:30 and it's still going over 2 hours later.
There is a major construction project going on in the floor below me at work and the noise is killing me. there is incessant drilling and jackhammering throughout the day and it is SO FUCKING LOUD. As irritating as it is for me, I really feel bad for our patients for having to put up with this.
I've never had a breakfast taco, but it sounds fukcing amazing.
