My DD and I are getting matching family tattoos in two weeks and I'm suddenly perplexed on where I should put it. My initial thought was to do a cover-up on my divorce tattoo, but it would have to be much bigger than I'd want it. So I'm currently debating between my collarbone and my ribcage. If it's on my ribs, no one will ever see it, but I'll know it's there. I think that's where DD is getting her's. I love my collarbones (weird, right?) but I'm not sure I'd want it to always be visible since I wear a lot of tanks and stuff in the summer.

I think it depends on what your motivation and desire is. I mean, if you're getting this tattoo really just for you, then I would think it would be totally fine to get it on your ribcage. If you really want others to see it, then I would pick somewhere more visible.
If I were to get a tattoo, I think that is such a personal thing that I would totally get it where people couldn't see it. Personally, I would want the ability to cover it up.
I have my one and only tattoo on my rib cage. It's a quote and my sister has the same one in the same place. Others can see it in a bikini. I like that it comes as a surprise to most when they do see it.
I'd give the same advice as bullygirl979 in your situation. If you want folks to see it then put it somewhere it can be seen. If you are getting it for yourself, go with rib cage.
Mine is on my low back, so I never see it. You'll be able to see ribcage better than that, so I really think whatever location you end up liking best will be good.
