Has anyone used a customized training plan to train for a race?
I'm trying to figure out my plan for MCM. I had been on a long hiatus and this is the first race I'm training for with kids in the picture and much more limited time each week than I've ever had for any other marathon. In the past I've used Hal Higdon, but I'm not sure I'll have the time for the intermediate plan, but at the same time, I want to really make this race worth it and get a really good time (most probably not PR, but hopefully close-ish). I've looked into the FIRST plan, but I'm nervous about running so little, since again, I want to make this race "worth it".
A quick google search I found McMillan plans which seem pretty pricey, and Vdot02 which is more affordable. They both claim to take history and goals into account and would hopefully give me a plan that is attainable and give me the confidence that I'm doing the best training possible. That last bit is the part that is feeling most important to me - feeling like I'm doing enough and the right mix of distance and speed, etc. Any recs?
