I didn't want to derail discussion in the original thread, but this situation has me wanting to really do something. I regularly donate to PP, but does anyone know of legitimate organizations that are assisting women in these limited access states with finding access? I'm thinking transportation, hotel, childcare assistance, etc? While I am a huge PP supporter, that $ does no good for women that can't even get themselves to a clinic. I think supporting these organizations with either time or $ would be a great way for women to say fuck whatever laws you want to pass, we've always taken care of each other and we'll continue to take care of each other.

ARC- Southeast is the abortion fund in the area. They handle funding, practical support and are run by WOC. I can't possibly say enough good things about them and the work they're doing

You can find the full list of abortion funds at abortionfunds.org if you want to be able to donate in different states depending on who's acting a fool at the moment. Abortion funds are scrappy and do such amazing work. Give them your time and money if you can, it is unbelievably rewarding and with most funds if you're helping callers, you do that at home in your PJs
Washington, Oregon and Alaska state insurance includes abortion funding (Medicaid and Apple Health here in Washington). Idaho does not provide funding but does help with travel to get to a clinic. I know of women who have come from other areas (a friend’s relative, for example) who have come to WA with assistance from the Northwest Abortion Access Fund even outside of these states. nwaafund.org/
“Feminist Center provides safe, accessible, compassionate abortion, sexual health, and wellness services to all who need it without judgment. As a multiracial, multigenerational organization led by Black women, and other women of color we strive to be a safe place for people seeking reproductive health care including people of color, immigrants, Trans, queer and gender non-conforming folks. We are the only local independent nonprofit organization in Georgia that directly provides reproductive health services while also protecting reproductive rights and promoting reproductive justice through organizing and advocacy.“

Abortion funds work as a network and they help each other. A patient/caller's fund where they live if their primary fund and the primary fund that's going to be responsible for coordinating and fundraising. The state the patient/caller is going to will often collaborative fund to help out because these cases typically involve descent amounts of money. Sometimes other funds that are nearby will also help and a there are national sources like the National Abortion Federation (they have a huge endowment and put a lot of barriers in front of callers, so I personally don't give to them and instead give to local abortion funds) who can often come in to fill gaps.
States that are friendly to abortion are absolutely thinking about and planning for the need to support even more people in the coming years.

Do you have any experience with this? This is definitely something I would be interested to get involved in. I will look into it.

Yep! I've been funding abortions for over a decade now. Local abortion Funds don't really have offices so a lot of the work that gets done happens while sitting on the couch. Exactly how calls are handled differs fund to fund but I am not aware of any funds that require you to go into an office to help callers. A lot of funds have a monthly volunteer meeting and obviously a training at the beginning, but outside of that you can help from home.
With my fund you sign up for a week long shift, at other funds a shift can be a single day. It all depends on how they choose to run things, but I would absolutely recommend getting connected with your local fund. Go here to find the list. Abortion funds are really a last line of defense, so you're saving people from slipping through the cracks and losing control over their bodies and lives because of money/access.

Can you volunteer in other states? I live in a state with pretty strong abortion protections and I wonder if my efforts would go farther in a place like Georgia (or Arizona — same time zone.)

As a general rule no. Most funds are all or mostly all-volunteer. Having to manage vols out of state would be a huge burden and I'm 100% sure your state needs your support. Abortion funds are small, there isn't an abortion fund in the US (or the few outside the US) that couldn't use more help.
Second checking out the National Network of Abortuon Funds for a local to you one. They just wrapped up their annual spring fundraiser, otherwise I would link you to my fundraising page. We have Lilith Fund here in Houston/Austin/San Antonio and maybe Dallas? Also Clinic Access Support Network in Houston started as volunteers driving people to their appointments, we also now help with funding, childcare, and housing for people traveling here for care. I also donate to trustwomen.org, they opened and run clinics in abortion access "deserts", like Wichita and Oklahoma City (also recently opened one in Seattle). Those clinics are vital for a lot of women in those states and surrounding ones.
I don't want to direct any donations away from these funds because they're obviously desperately needed, but you might also kick some $ over to advocacy groups that are working to stop these laws and expand reproductive rights. Off the top of my head, Planned Parenthood Action Fund (political arm whereas the main PP org funds the healthcare centers) and NARAL are two that I've worked with.

Center for Reproductive Rights is another good one! They also bring/join lawsuits against some of these laws to stop them taking effect.

As pinksquirrel said abortion funds. We work hard to make sure that women have abortion access! If you want to get involved we primarily work off of volunteers, without them we wouldn't be able to do it all!

Dallas has the teafund! Teafund covers North Texas, the panhandle, east Texas into Louisiana, parts of Oklahoma and down to Waco.
