I made a couple of additions to your wording with the help of another bumpie; what do you think? Also, I've never made a petition on change.org before. Would I just leave this wording as is (i.e., written to a representative), or should I change it? Thanks again for your help!
Dear Representative,
I am writing to urge your support for Senate Bill 0020 or similar legislation which would allow parents to bring their minor children into package liquor stores. Currently the Indiana Code prevents the presence of minors at places where alcohol is sold. The law also contains 22 exceptions for places where minors are allowed, including grocery stores, civic centers, indoor golf facilities and automobile race tracks.
Senate Bill 0020 would, in part, change the law to allow the presence of minors provided they are accompanied by their parents or guardians who are above the age of 21. Single parents, military spouses, low income families, parents of children with special needs or parents with several children may not be able to make arrangements for their children while they are shopping. Therefore, this change is necessary to prevent children from suffering unnecessarily from being left unattended in vehicles or at home while their parents are shopping.
