How long after your sick do you start up exercising again? My coworker got the flu and I’m pretty sure I caught it from her, but because I got the shot (and she didn’t) I didn’t feel like I was going to die. But I was definitely out of it for a week with slight fever and chills, headache and congestion. Then my ears got super clogged and I went in and yay, ear infection! I’ve been on antibiotics for about 4 days and I’m still so exhausted and the meds are giving me headaches and bloating. I feel like hot garbage. I’ve been able to go out for hikes/walks with the kids and do some simple stuff at home, but it’s been almost 2 weeks since I’ve run and I’m wondering when I should just go for it. I’m don’t taking my meds in 4 days. How long do you give yourself to recover?
If you feel like hot garbage, don't push it. Your body is spending a ton of energy trying to make you better. Let it.
Fluoroquinolones like Levaquin and Ciproflaxin can rupture your tendons. Don't even think about working out if that's what you're on, and then give it a week or so for those to work themselves out of your system.
@vtcupcake is wise. Please listen to her.
This. All of it. I've known someone that ruptured a tendon because they "just couldn't take off" of working out when they were on Levaquin. Cue 2 surgeries and 6 months of not working out for them.

Yikes!!! I’m just on augmentin (sp?) so nothing too crazy- I just wasn’t ready for the headaches for a few hours after each dose.
I do have a hard time sitting still and I’m trying to be better about listening to my body, but sometimes my body is also a dumbass. Lol. I think I’ll stick with yoga and my indoor bike this week and then see how I feel about running this weekend. 2 weeks off won’t kill me. (Even if it feel like it will!)

If you feel like complete garbage, REST is what you need. No exercise. You are only digging yourself further into a hole. It never hurts to take a few extra days off as opposed to prolonging an illness by not letting yourself rest.
