My primary care physician left a voicemail that they were calling in a script they wanted me to start immediately. When I looked the medicine up, I found it should under no circumstances be taken during pregnancy. I called my OB to confirm, and they said to NOT take it. This is the second time they've prescribed something that is not safe for me to take. I have allergies to a number of medicatsions (i.e. antibiotics that have landed me in the ER more than once). I'm concerned their lack of thoroughness could just lead to additional issues in the future, and it's time to find a new primary care ... any suggestions?
She's in Temple Terrace and I will going to see her soon. She's my co-worker's PCP and CW has nothing but amazing things to say about her. She's an older lady. I'll get you the number on FB later.
I know this is going to sound stupid, but does your PCP know you are pregnant? I don't see my PCP enough for them to know if I'm alive or dead. I prefer my specialists.

They do, I was actually in there on Tuesday and we were discussing that my OB wants me to cut the dose of my blood pressure meds in half before the third trimester to make sure it doesn't impact the baby's growth. We discussed a plan to taper down my dose.
I was doing routine bloodwork to check my liver, and heard nothing about my results other than a voicemail my PCP had called in a new script for an issue that had popped up in my bloodwork.
I called the OB and they told me under no circumstance should I take the med the PCP was prescribing. And the "issue" that probably came up in bloodwork is very common when hormone levels are elevated - not an actual medical issue that requires meds that have been linked to birth defects.
When I called the PCP back I could tell they realized they had messed up. They said, "never mind, we'll retest after you have the baby, and if it's still an issue we'll discuss options"
I swear, most doctors don't know what to do with pregnant women. Mine refused to even tell me if it was safe for me to treat a yeast infection with OTC meds when I was pg with Zoe and my OB was OOT.
