As scheduled, baby Dean made his appearance at 8 am on May 30 via c section.
The spinal was my biggest anxiety and I got a fantastic anesthesiologist. It was definitely not as bad as last time, and the doctor was a great member of my care team. Unfortunately the hospital has new spinal cocktail designed to reduce narcotics. Good news, its effective. Bad news, it makes you nauseous and I vomited once around 11. Fun!
Baby weighs a whopping 9.4, solidifying my satisfaction in a RCS vs Vbac. He needed regular blood sugar checks but passed with flying colors. No NICU for this one! He also does not appear to have C's birth defect pupil.
We are all doing well so far. BP is in a healthy range and I feel fantastic. Nursing is super frustrating and stressful, which sucks. He is doing ok though. Been sleeping well and got a bit of shut eye before he needed snuggles.
Congrats! Vomiting after a c/s sounds like one of the most miserable things life can bring. I could barely cough for days! Hope you heal quickly!
I was in total fear but it wasn't 100% awful. I told H I actually probably prefer the vomiting and nausea over being totally narc'd out. I do have some bleeding at the incision likely as a result though.
Congrats!! He's adorable. I struggled big time with nursing my first and had a staff lactation consultant come see me while in the hospital with my second. It really helped set the tone and I made it 8 months. Hoping for a year with this one. Does your hospital have any on staff that can help?
